I found a nice 422 last week. 4" bbl, wood grips and adjustable rear sights. I ordered the adapter from EKW and was all set to run some rounds thru my can.

The rounds were jamming when fed with several different magazines. I finally got the idea to hand feed one round and found the chamber to be so tight that unless I forced the back of the round down it wasn't going to chamber. So I carefully did just that, screwed on the can and popped it off in the back yard. It ejected fine.

Ran a wet patch and a bronze brush with no change. Next I chucked a cleaning rod in a drill and again tried the bronze brush. Still no chance. Actually I did this before I forced the round in: guess I'm writing this out of order.

It's in the ultrasonic cleaner as I write this. I'll run it for several cycles and see if that helps. I'm trying to avoid taking the barrel off.

Anyone else run into this before?

thanks

Were you using only one brand of .22 ammo or did the sticking occur with other manufacturer's ammo too? If only brand of ammo used, maybe the ammo was an out of spec. Try a different brand of ammo.

Two 30 minute cycles in the cleaner seemed to do the trick. Haven't reassembled yet but a rinse and blow dry in the chamber and a round plops right in.

S&W 422 22lr chamber

Thank you for the Range Report.

I have three of these 422s. I have never had a Chambering
problem. I have noticed that 22s are just filthy with these
pistols.

I have heard that Suppressors are very dirty, with powder
and soot blow back. That's why it's been recommended to
me to get one that can be taken apart for cleaning.

I just wonder if this Blow Back of powder/soot is causing
chambering problems.

Looking forward to our next Range Report.

Sorry I don't have a picture of my 422s.
Just look at the Soot on my 617 22lr.

I have a stainless model 622, and rarely have any problems with it. It has some feeding problems when it is really filthy, so after I clean it, works just fine. Dirt, powder residue are the enemies of this pistol.
