I picked up this no-dash no-lock 4" nickel 586 from a forum member a couple of months ago. I purchased the grips from another member and shelved the stock grips for now. I just recently got the Tuff QuickStrips and pouch and haved added this as a carry option to my current Glock 19 and 26.

As you know, this model is one sweet shooter. :D It replaces a 4" model 19 nickel I traded years ago and kick myself every time I think about that trade....

I have a nylon iwb holster that I use for ccw but could definitely use something better - any iwb suggestions would be appreciated. It had its maiden ccw voyage last night as it accompanied me to Kroger to pick up some last minute Thanksgiving supplies. :)

I shoot my 586 four inch in IDPA and USPSA shoots. Those early L-frames are real bargains these days. I prefer a Kahr PM-9 for pocket carry.

I have the blued brother to your nickel 586, it's number is BFR85XX.

L Frames are heavy for size but they surely like full house 357s.

Rather have a good L frame than a N frame 357. Shoot and enjoy.

I carry my 2-1/2" 686 in a Simply Rugged Sourdough with IWB straps. It's a chunk, but it's nice to know I'm carrying something i can shoot well.

Congrats on one fine revolver. Love it but I'm predijuced owning the same model. It's probably my most accurate S&W. I'd go with a LOBO IWB holster. Outstanding quality. He could charge double his price IMO.

I've never had the mod done to mine and it's never tied up in thousands of rounds, including magnums but if you're using it for SD I would definately do it. It's free of charge and you could have a buttery smooth DA trigger job done at the same time.

I have two 581 no-dash models, both ex-LEO guns and neither have had the "M" stamp applied. Whether or not the PD did the mod themselves I don't know, but both guns have been fired a lot before I got them, and neither have tied up on me. There was one brand of ammo some shooters say caused the most problems with the primer flowing around the bushing, I forget what it is......I may have to do a "search" and find out, try this ammo, and if there's no problems with my guns I'm not gonna worry about it.
