For Father's Day, I got a 6" 686-3 in excellent condition. It looks hardly shot. The only downside is it didn't come with factory grips. Instead, it has Pachmayr finger groove grips (which feel pretty good, but don't look great to me). Factory target stocks are a bit too big for me, and I was thinking of putting on a T-grip and SB service grips. Or, I might put on some Grashorn's elk stag grips. I'm not sure how service-sized grips will look on a 6" stainless L-frame. Can you guys with such a configuration post some photos? If you have stags and t-grips, you get extra points. Thanks!

I wish I would have gotten one of those. I got some socks instead. Enjoy!

That is truly a wonderful Fathers Day gift.

I have a 6" 686-3 I purchased new while stationed in Alaska in 1992. It's still one of my favorites.

It has worn a number of different stocks over the years. Currently it is equipped with a set of Ahrends retro combats in Cocobolo. I have found this style to fit my medium-sized hands very well and have them installed on several revolvers.

Enjoy your gift!

Congrats on the 686, you'll love it. I'm partial to blue so it's 586's for me...enjoy! We'll be looking for that first range report.;)

You must be a SUPER DAD! 586, & 686 are both great shooters. I have a 586 no dash 4". It is wearing Herrett target grips. They are more compact than factory. Feel good to me. 686-3 with factory targets. 6" gun is great for 25 yard steel plates. Bob
