New to me 696

I sure wouldn't pay $950 for a 696. Just 6 oz more...

[My luck... by the time I decide to sell my 696, S&W will do like they did to the used 'Blood Work' 2 5/8" PC627 UDR market - and start production again!

But they would have the granny lock....

Wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth? You buy a whole armory full of these at $950 and S&W starts production again. Then again, what would the MSRP be on something like this today?

Probably close to $900-950, and it would come with an extra hole in the side.

Actually, I do believe that the last run of the 696, the 696-2, as brief as it was, has the hole in the side! Of course, as I've said - S&W has been putting that IL in their revolvers for ten years - and has yet to spend the first dime defending one's failure.

Correct, the last 696's had the IL.
That maybe is one of the reasons the 686 no dash and -1 are higher priced on GB.
Mine is a no dash, so no IL and no MIM. Old fashioned manufactured steel parts. As good as the IL and MIM parts are, I am happy without.

Update

Just received a new set of Magnas so I could put the other ones back on the model 19 they belong to and guess what... Their dark! What do you think?

Next step is some Tyler T-Grips.

Unless someone asks me a direct question, this will be my last post for this thread, I promise :).

I ordered the T-Grips in November and just received them yesterday which is OK by me considering what has gone on with the company. It's just a little concerning when your reading the web page and their saying 6-10 day turn around time. Anyways, they are here.
