Look what Clemenza just dropped off at Michaels house before going to the restaurant:

1980 or so M36 Chief Special. Looks unfired, never owned a J frame or a snubby and curious how I can handle it and how accurate I can deal w it. I worked on it a bit and the action is quite good. This will be fun for close up drills. Quite excited.

Nice looking little Chief. IMO, they are not an easy gun to shoot, but it can be done. For me, it takes a lot of practice, and currency goes out the window quickly.

When I first got a Chief, it was common to practice mostly with wadcutters. I don't know how many thousand, but between a friend and myself, we thought we might wear that gun out. Pretty sure we never came close. I sent it back to S&W for a general overhaul and refinish. They said mechanically they really didn't find anything much to complain about, so, since it was there, I asked them to engrave it.

They're great little guns and I believe still as good today for their intended purpose as ever. Congrats on your new revolver. :)

I recently bought my wife a Lady Smith M-36.
We both shoot it very well.
Enjoy that J frame.

With only the magna service stocks on a J Frame there's little to hold on to.
Better grips that fit your hand will result in better shooting.

Looks like a great piece! Congratulations.
