New to me K-32

Very nice gun!! I hope you're going to shoot it a bit. I have a 16-2 and a 16-4. I've tried handloads with Berry HBWCs and have had poor accuracy with that load. I suspect the bullets may be too small in diameter.

I'm interested in your experience.

Thank you.

Yes indeed I'll be shooting it. It isn't a NIB specimen, and has been shot a fair amount it appears, so a bit more won't hurt anything. I just have to find the dies and components now. Not much available on the internet sites right now, and nothing locally. This is one caliber I have never owned dies for.

Don't forget, most 32 S&W Long sets will also do H&E and FM cartridges as well. My RCBS and Lyman sets are both doing all three quite well. This is a general observation since Hondo44 has apparently already gotten Guns 4 Fun on the path to success. Can't wait for range reports now!

It looks like the hardest thing to come up with is the brass at this point. :(

I load for almost 30 different cartridges, but have never loaded this round, so I have no supplies on hand like I did for everything else before this last frenzy started.

Ok, so which box would be correct for this gun? the blue with the solid grey border, or the gold box? I haven't got a ship date from Roy since he's gone right now, but there's another K-32 in the database very close numerically to this one that shipped in '58. I know that both types of box were being used then, but since this one was a slow mover, I'm guessing maybe the gold box?

It seems like 32 S&W Long is one of the easier to find calibers of once-fired brass than say, 556 or 40 S&W, not to mention 9 or 45. Check with some of the larger commercial brass dealers that advertise in Shotgun News etc and you should be in good shape.

As for bullets, Hornady and Speer both offer swaged WC and SWC bullets that will carry you through until you start casting. (Notice I didn't say "unless" you start casting! ;) )

Seeing the other thread posted by coyotehunter prompted me to bump this one back up to the top. I had to go back a ways to find it.

These aren't quite as nice as Mitch's guns, but i'm still proud of them.:)

The key to this, Gun 4 Fun, is that your trio of Ks is yours! You possess them yourself and get to enjoy shooting them yourself. My early post-War K-22 is one of my favorite and most shot guns, and if I had a K-32 to match it, well let's just say it would be hard for the little rimfire to retain its position on my list of favorites! ;) This is a case where the "middle child" would not be lost in the middle.

Tim,

Your trio is ever bit as nice as mine and you should be proud!!!
Have you found the reloading supplies you need to load for your K32, I had a couple member send me some brass, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING, and I picked up a set of dies yesterday at Midsouth Shooters (15 minutes away with buddies that work there) and put a couple recipies together last night.

Enjoy and again very nice trio.

Regards

Ya know, I wasn't really setting out to have the "trio" as it were. I just wanted a 14 of any variety as long as it was pinned, to go along with my 17, especially since we shoot all winter long on an indoor range where only lighter rounds are allowed.

I have paid attention over the years to the fact that the K-32 is hard to come by, and never really planned on buying one due to the prices. Then this one came along and something inside just said to buy it, so I did.

Now I'm looking forwards to playing with it both on the range and in the field.
