I just obtained this 3" Model 66-5 and though it doesn't have the dreaded lock it does have an MIN trigger and hammer. What I really like about this -5 are the sights. The fiber optic front sight is easy to pick up and the V notch rear makes sight acquisition fast and easy. The rifling looks shallower than my 3" 66-2 so I think it may be Smiths 5R rifling. Took it to the range and figured this rifling would shoot better with jacketed ammunition. To my surprise it was more accurate with lead bullets. The action is buttery smooth and the Hogue grips though ugly are very comfortable.

I came across a large quantity of Western 38 Special WC ammunition from the 60s at a great price. My concern was with ammo this old I may get some dead primers. So I tried 50 rounds of this ammo thru the Model 66 with absolutely no issues. https://youtu.be/BXV3wtybX-k?si=23ObFfPDAPw0zOAI

All the talk about the 66, thought this may be interesting.
I bought 3 guns, one of which was a S&W 66-3 for $400.00. Sold the other 2 for $450.00. Serial number is BFT1310. Cannot find the year, But I have not looked real hard.
