just found it, excellent condt, but no box papers and one 12rd mag, $170.00 at LGS. interesting looking pistol with low barrel and ejection port. feels real good in my hand. replaced black plastic grips with some original factory wood grips, big improvement in looks/feel! i understand these were only made a short time, hope it was not because they were not good! any info anyone can tell me would be a big help. thanks.

These are excellent guns, and you got a great deal! I'd buy all I could afford at that price. You'll be pleased with it!

Me, too! I was always intrigued the way S&W managed to bring back the Escort action in these neat plinker .22s in the early '90s. Several friends have had them - I hear very little bad about them, and quite a lot good.

I love these pistols, and have three of them. One is a 4 inch 422, the blue version, and I have two almost identical 6 inch 622's.

The 422 shoots a little high, but the 622's fixed sights are dead on for me. I especially like the vertical line in the front sight on the 622.

For $170 you stole that one! If you ever want to get a suppressor, now you have the perfect host. A guy who goes by HotRod makes a threaded adapter that replaces the barrel nut and allows you to attach a suppressor. And with the low barrel on these, you can still see the sights over the can.

I've got a blued 422 that was a pawn shop find at $200 a few years back. I've also got my favorite 622 6" that I bought on my 21st birthday many years ago. Other than the occasional cleaning and oiling, it's never had a hiccup. As mentioned above - perfect suppressor host guns too! You Sir got a smoking deal (steal) - congrats!

I will give you your money back. Just kidding, thanks for the info and pics.

Jon welcome to the club. Great underrated pistols that might be more respected now than when they were in production 20-25 years ago.

Nice looking 622 pistol and suppressor you have there. Can you tell us more about the suppressor (make, model, barrel adaptor, etc.)? Thanks.

Thanks! The can is the AAC (Advanced Armament) Pilot. It's super light weight and ultra quiet. The adaptor is the one mentioned above by HotRod - it just replaces threaded barrel nut and then the suppressor screws onto that. It doesn't affect the balance a bit. I also trade the suppressor off and on with the blued 422 (in the pic in a holster just poking out under the 622), as well as on my Ruger 10/22 with a threaded barrel.

YEAH i got a good one!!

;) guys, i would post a pic but my camera is down, guess i will have to buy a new one.thanks for all the kind words and comments, i had never seen a 622 before that day and when i held it i knew it had to come home with me! midwayusa has great prices on 10 and 12 round mags, i got one and it functions perfect. the iron sights are dead on but my 68yo tired old eyes dont like them, so i tried an EKW "stick on" red dot rail, just to be short/sweet, it did NOT WORK. i returned it for a refund and ordered a AIMTECH APM 11 scope mount that replaces the right grip panel. it should arrive in a week or two, cant wait to get it mounted and attach my aimpoint red dot. the mount isnt as pretty as the wood target grips but it will work out good i hope. i shoot LEFTY so i dont think it will feel odd. my first range session with this light great pointing little 6" pistol was impressive. it looks like it would be heavy until you pick it up. i think it will be a lot of fun with the red dot and it should be a lot more accurate.

red dot on 6" 622

the aimtech optics mount works great!! it IS pretty UGLY but it does the job for me. just doesnt feel as nice as the wood grips but i shoot lefty so it doesnt feel too bad. i found out the grip screws work loose when firing, all at once my groups were terrible and then i noticed the mount was loose and moving! locktight blue before my next range trip. looks like this mount is the ONLY solution to the need to mount an optic to this pistol.:D

You got a steal. You'll have fun with it. I have the same model with wood grips (I like the wood grips over the plastic grips) and love it. I got mine back when they were selling them with the 12 rd. magazines. Mine was the first pistol I ever bought. If you wanted to get more 10 rd. or 12 rd. Magazines you can order hem from Midwayusa.com. For some season the 12 rd. magazines are $1.00 cheaper and the 2 extra rds. are really nice. You'll find that it is easy to take down and clean quickly, especially once you get the procedure ingrained in to your memory. YOUTUBE has a bunch of Videos on taking the 422\622\2206 on the subject of down and cleaning if you didn't get the manual with your 622.
