Found this little jem on a dealers table. Covered in greasy finger prints and sweat. Cylinder would not spin and action wouldn't open. Wiped her down and oiled her joints. Like new now. Love these J frames.

Hard to go wrong with rescuing a stainless S&W. Wonder if the previous owner "maintained" it with generous portions of WD-40?

Nice thing about stainless, it can be subjected all weekend to strangers' sweat and drool, and with minimal effort it cleans up like new. In fact, with minimal maintenance they look "good as new" virtually forever. BTW, what was going on with the cylinder jammed shut? Obviously it fixed easily or you probably would have mentioned it. Enjoy your new toy. It sounds like you were meant for each other.

Diamond in the rough

A great find there, you saw past the grime and saw what it could be after a little TLC.

My Father-in-law has a 60. it is either a prototype or first day production. The first-year guns are highly polished! His is so shiny I thought it was a nickel 36/37. I'll always remember it tucked in his cummerbund as he walked my bride up the isle! There were 17 cops at my wedding, I'm betting there were 17 J-frames there too!
