Ok if some of you don't know Truglo has released their new Mil-Spec TFO's. The new sights called TFX are now available and yep I was the first one in the country to get them. I wanted to give you guys a better look at the sights from todays photoshoot. Before you say anything, this was a professional photoshoot and all precautions were taken.

Basically the new TFO eXtreme's
Now the fibers and tritium are hermetically sealed in vials. (no more melting fiber optics) you can clean these sights with what ever you want.

The front sights are shorter in length giving you just a little bit more sight radius.

The front sight has a sapphire face with a white ring around it making the glowing dots amore focused and defined look.

The rear sight is also sapphire faced with black rings around the rear. (not to compete with the front sight)

They fit all of the M&P pistols including the Shield.

My personal Shield now wears the TFX sights. Since I am the photographer I never get to be in the pictures that show off my toys.

I have the old TFOs on my M&P 45 and love them. Any idea on what these new TFX sights will cost?

Any idea why the rear sight profile is different between the XD/Glock vs the M&P? I like the Glock style better.

For $140.00 I would rather have a set of high quality sights like the Trijicon HD's.

This is an interesting comment. It seems that, even though you haven't seen these new sights, you think they are low quality. That's a strange stance to take. Do you have a set of the original TFOs? I do and I can tell you they are every bit as good quality as the Trijicon sights I also have. In fact, the TFO sights are easier to see than the Trijicon sights I have. Further, I have about 2,000 rounds through my M&P 45 with the TFO sights and had no problems with them.

I guess that it's a preference on the sight, I have the TFO's sight on two of my glock and I just had install a set of Trijicon HD Night Sights for my Shield love them both. Now I have three other glock that I need to decide what to put on but I do like that new TFO's sight so I will see if the GS get some in.

I don't doubt the quality of them, but for that price, I would rather buy Trijicon HDs. Just personal preference. I own both TFOs and HDs.

Sights look fantastic, but they're a bit on the spendy side. However, thanks for posting.

$140.00 is a small price to pay for confidence in the sights on a defensive handgun. I own Novaks, Meprolights, and TruGlo TFO sights, among others - but The TFX being available for Novak sight cuts means they will be on my wife's main Para P14, and mine. She already has TFOs on her Sig 226 and S&W XD .40 subcompact, and we've never had any trouble with them, and they do glow 247 - which is hard to beat.

I recently bought a set of Trijicon HD's for my M&P but haven't got around to fitting them yet.

Could someone please comment on the aiming concept of the U-Shaped rear HD compared to the standard Tru-Glo setup?

Also the HD's are higher, that's why I bought them I like to put the dot on the front sight over the target.

Does the daytime brightness interfere at all?

I found the HDs to consistently shoot 2.5" high at seven yards due to an incorrect (IMHO) front sight height choice by Trijicon. Shooting the dot or top of front site blade made no difference to me, YMMV.

I can't comment on the U shape rear. I don't really look at the rear sight. I can say I like the 0.100" width of the 10 8 front sight.

I sold the HDs at a loss and now use a 10 8 FO front and factory blacked out rear.

To the TFX discussion: I have seen anecdotally on the web sporadic reports of the TFO FO vial falling out. It would seem the TFX redesign would address that issue.

If so, I would guess the TFX at $100 ish street price would be great value, if you wanted a tritium sight picture at night and a FO in daylight.

I'm wondering if the rods are going to fall out like they do on the previous TruGlos's

this^^^ For every review that praises Truglo, there are equal amounts of disgruntled gun owners saying the same thing.

Llando thanks for sharing your experience. I bought the Trijicons because of the height so I could put the dot dead center as opposed to the factory Novaks which I need to shoot at the 6 o'clock position.
I'll just have to fit them and see what happens. I've also never had a good experience with FO sights. Tru Glo may have addressed the main complaint of them working loose but I don't think FO is necessary on the rear sight, makes them too busy IMHO. Thanks again.

No problem. I sincerely hope the HDs work for you. Several have commented they shoot them POI = POA, but in my case, the math and my results were uncannily similar.

I have a set of TFO's on my M&P 40 and just don't like them, I read many comments about the fiber optic falling off and while hasn't happened to me I do think eventually will happen. In my non expert opinion FO sights don't belong on a SD handgun as the FO is fragile, I do believe there are better design out there and non FO night are the way to go for a serious SD handgun.
