Does anyone know if the new S&W Victory is Ma. compliant?

I can't say for sure, but I asked my FFL, he said it should be the usual wait time, about a year it will be available. I also saw a thread where someone said their local Ma dealer had one... but that doesn't mean it's legal. I remember when the Shields first came out, all the dealers had them... but couldn't sell them until they passed and paid the Ma AG ransom...

That'll be fine by me... give me something to tinker with.. 10 lb triggers never bothered me before, until someone told me that.. The 17-18 M&P's I already own all shoot great!!! :p
That is a whole lot of Massachusetts-compliant M&P's! :) What percentage have you left stock vs. done something with to de-Massify them? :D

I've found some pretty wide variation in the M&P's I own and in range-owned guns. Some are just fine (or at least okay/usable) and others are almost impossible for me to shoot. Not long ago I tried a Shield .40 (a range-owned gun) that I could not shoot for all the tea in China. It was awful. :( On the other hand, I shot an M&P45 on Monday that was absolutely fine with me. I shocked myself with how great I did with it. :D

When I want to buy one, I test the trigger. There have been a whole lot of rejections but some that I found okay too. For my next M&P purchase, I think I'm going to try to procure a free state gun even if it means going imported & used (no box = no SKU). :o We'll see how that works out. :)

Mornin TT...

Most of them, I use the APEX KITS IN... A FEW OF THEM, I have left alone. My 1st M&P40fs, was awesome, the trigger felt fine and I shot it great. Then I found these sites on the computer, began reading about upgrades available from APEX or having a trigger job done by, I think, Burris. Or the directions were available to do it yourself... I decided to try an APEX sear becauce I could return it to original if need be... Well the rest is history, I shot my 40 great out of the box, the APEX sear upgrade just made it feel better. My next M&P was the 9c and then the 45fs, that 45 killed my finger after about 75rds, so I put the APEX sear in that one., including the 9 and 40 Shields. Anyhow.. I bought a lot of M&P's before running into a new Shield at my local gunstore... just for the heck of it, I asked if I could check it out... when I went to pull the trigger, I thought it wasn't cocked or the safety was on..... nope, it finally released and realized this trigger was the worst I ever felt. That was the 1st time I honestly felt I could say it... this gun cannot be shot without having trigger work done...

As for the comment about a possible 10lb trigger on the new Victory, I doubt it as the 22a has nothing in common with the M&P triggers.. I suspect the Victory won't either.

Oh ya... I picked up a couple of PC M&P's... Wow, the triggers a nice, probably 5-6lbs, but the break is great, very crisp and clean. I also, recently picked up a VTAC in FDE, the trigger is ok, but it sucks compared to the PC's. I've been lucky to find them online in Ma already and did FTF's..

I think (hope?) you're right that they'll figure out something for the new Victory .22 pistol that will still keep the AG happy. ;) You can't sell a .22 target/plinker pistol with a crazy stiff unusable trigger, can you?

Between the good wife and me, we own 6 M&P pistols including our twin 9mm Shields. Putting Apex kits in all of them is not in the cards. I can think of too many better ways to spend $600 (+/-) than on pistol part replacements, no matter how good they may be. So we live with what we bought. Like I said, I did a lot of in-shop testing due to pistol-to-pistol variations I've discovered and I think we've come out okay for now.

But for the next one, I'm going to see if I can import a "slightly used" free state gun sans box. I've heard of others doing this successfully. Of course if it doesn't save any money (vs. an Apex kit) after shipping & transfer fees, I lose.

Does anyone know if the new S&W Victory is Ma. compliant?

Looks like the advice so far is correct that the new S&W Victory .22 semi-auto is not Massachusetts compliant.

I feel sorry for the folks in states where a simple .22 plinker is made difficult to come by.

It won't be on our approved roster for a while. :o Heck, the M&P .22 compact still isn't on our approved roster. :( It takes time... and, of course, a big commitment from S&W to get a new handgun on the approved roster.

Then it has to meet with the AG's approval too based on her "consumer protection" regs. Being on the approved roster alone is not enough for a dealer to sell a new handgun in Massachusetts (unless you are a cop). Each gun must be BOTH on the approved roster AND meet with the AG's approval... that is, be on her "top secret" okay guns list. :(

I think that roster list is only updated twice a year. It's not like a gun is added to it when it is ready.. it's like every 6 months an updated list comes out...

Now that is a story I think about almost daily.... 5 years ago when I bought my 1st gun, an M&P 40fs.... I found the MP board, shortly there after, this board.. read up all I could find about the M&P's. One day while reading the paper, I noticed S&W stock around 4.50... I told the wife, heck, we should buy a bunch of that because certainly, with this M&P, stock has got to go up. The problem is, I'm not a stock market guy... so everytime I see their stock I say the same thing... I'm sure like most here, you know what the stock is at now... I feel even worse now.. just yesterday, I was moaning about it and the wife said.. buy it!!! Stop whining about it.. :D

If everything I've invested in S&W handguns were, instead, invested in S&W stock, I'd have no financial worries today! :D

But too late now. I should have been smarter. :o

Anyway, if things ever go back to "normal" (or even semi-normal) in this once great country of ours, so would the stock price. It would be just my luck to "Buy High" and "Sell Low"! :p
