Dagnabit. I was thinking about buying a Kahr PM9, and now I'm going to have to wait to see the PPQ.

Anyone have any inside info?

Sounds like it will be 15 round service pistol. Let me guess, plastic fantastic?

Based on previous collaborations between Walther and S&W (the 99) can we anticipate that the PPQ will look similar to a M&P? Or perhaps the SD? I can't see the PPS bulked up to a 15 round capacity. But, I suppose its possible.

The answer to your question as to how I can keep a foum member in suspense is, "easy," especially since I know NOTHING beyond the above information.

Were I to guess, I would say that it is an evolution of the P99QA, as I think that action is probably the more popular, as compared to the Anti-Stress (AS) or the Double Action Only (DAO) versions of the P99. I will emphasize, however, that I have no "insider" information. Thus, everyone may feel free to weigh in with guesses!

Does not look like much of a departure from the P99. I was sort of expecting a Walther PPS with a double stack frame. Or a larger version of the PPS with a double stack frame.

Exactly what I have been waiting for ... a rebranded Charles Daly CD9.

I guess we'll see which trigger design is used.

In the QA P99's the trigger is solid and the field-strip (decocking) button is on the left side of the slide. The DAO models have the safety lever in the trigger and the slide lacks the button.

The PPQ looks like a newer version of the P99 DAO because of the trigger and the slide, based simply upon the provided picture.

However ...

The PPS also uses a trigger mounted safety lever and instead of a slide mounted button for decocking it uses the grip insert to decock the striker (decocks the striker by removing the grip insert).

So, if they incorporated the grip insert decock design feature of the PPS it may be a QA-type action ... or if they designed it for their world market, where the P99 DAO has been reported to do very well in military/police markets, it may be a DAO design.

I guess we'll find out at the SHOT Show. ;)

A Glockified P99.

Granted, to some degree.

But as an armorer for both Glock and the 99 series, and having owned, used and helped support quite a number of both Glocks and 99 series pistols (including the SW99/P99), I tend to feel the 99 design still offers some refinements and improvements in the plastic service pistol concept. It appears the pending new models offer might seem to offer some further refinements.

Of course, as an armorer, owner & user of the M&P pistol line I also tend to think it offers even more refinements and improvements in the way of plastic service pistols than both Glocks and the 99 series. ;)

I'll continue to own, use and act as an armorer for all 3 model design lines, though. :)

I thoroughly agree.

Looks like nothing but a P99D RAD, first unveiled in 2008. Do not know that many people who will buy the 8.8lb DAO trigger though.

Looks good, I'd get one. I sold my P99 because it was DA/SA. Best feeling gun out there (I thought).
