As mentioned in another thread, I recently had to replace my Woolrich wool bibs. Of course they don't make anything like that anymore. Was pleasantly surprised to find a new, unused set on fleabay for not much more than my last set of new ones, 15 years or more ago. I also needed to replace my wool cruiser jacket that was a Cabela's brand. Great jacket, but, you guessed it, they don't make that anymore. Looked at Filson's but holy heck they want a mint for them. Most other places either didn't carry them or wanted near enough to the Filson price, that I would buy the Filson.
Decided to see what I could find for less on Amazon. Cruiser styles were priced the same, so, I looked at just wool jackets. This came up and I decided to take a chance.

Nice jacket. Not as heavy as Filson, and not heirloom quality, but for less than 1/5th the price? I'm happy!
It's wool blend, with a sherpa lining and quilted taffeta sleeves. Medium weight metal zipper. Think the pockets will go before anything else. Not a problem. If I'm wearing this, I probably am wearing enough things with pockets under it. Again, don't expect it to last for decades, but for the price, it don't have to.

Johnson wool jackets used to be a must have for wardens in Vermont, NH and Maine as well as every logger. The last one I had was a little thinner but still a great jacket for woods work. Check out Johnson Woolen Mills in Johnson, VT.

Just bought a 100% cashmere overcoat from Bloomingdales last year from England myself and man is it warm!
Can't wait to break it out again this winter.
Goes great with my Christy's 100% hare fedora hat too.

Nice looking jacket. I've purchased quite a bit of clothing from Legendary Whitetails over the years. Jackets, shirts, hats/caps, socks, etc., and haven't been disappointed in any of their products. They still send me catalogs a few times a year. And yeah, the old (like 20+ years ago) Cabela's stuff was way better than what they carry now.

That was about when I got mine.

Good clothing is hard to find these days. But usually worth the extra cost, as they last much longer than the cheap garbage.

If I was working outdoors still, I would spend the money for the Filson, no question. And still call it a bargain. But, for some reason, as I get older I seem to find more reasons to stay inside when the weather gets bad.:D
Will probably wear it more to the store than the woods, by far. But, I wouldn't hesitate to, however.

I am an admitted Filson Freak! That being said, a few years ago they offered an Anorak labeled as Filson. Unknown to me, it was an "unadvertised" limited run.

I still wanted an Anorak so, off to "Internet Land" I went. It was my luck to find Boreal Mountain Anoraks!!!!! Guess who made the Filson Anoraks, I'm not sure but, their product is 1st Class!!! They are also less than the one offered by Filson.

I have worn my deer hunting is the coldest of weather with a Filson sweater or vest underneath. They are warm as toast and when it is windy, the hood is a God send!!

They also make wool jackets, vests and other well made products. This Filson Freak is also a Boreal Best Friend!! You can thank me but, thank yourself and our Canadian friends!!

BTW, the Anorak kangaroo pockets can easily conceal your favorite carry piece!

Way back- My Buddy Russ invited several of us to go deer hunting at his family cabin up in the UP near Escanaba.
I wore the heaviest coat I had, my issued Parka.
Russ’s Dad went Bananas when he saw the fur on the hood!
I wound up wearing a borrowed Filson.
That’s the only time I ever wore one!
