New to forum, First S&W ever owned.

Have collected and shot many brands over the years just never had the opportunity to own a Smith and Wesson. I would guess price was mostly the obstacle.

I finally put it all together and did this one right.

Went with the adjustable rear sight and the Crimson Trace laser grips.
This is the nicest rig I own and with a little breaking in, I'm hoping it will shoot like a champ!

Am glad to have finally broke into the S&W family. Just thought I would share.

Range report a few replies down.

What Pawncop said. I have a SS S&W1911 similar to yours, no CT stocks :(, but it is a great gun - shoots VERY well. I can't recall any sort of problems, even with some reloads that my M&P45 does not cycle.

As for a Range report, I know that 1911's take 1000 rounds to really break in. Things loosen up some and mesh better then. Out of the box I did find this S&W really tight.

At eleven paces, the length of my living room, I was grouping three shots in a two inch area. A little better when I slowed down and really concentrated on sight picture.

Shot another S&W 1911 same day that has had some 2000 rounds through it, and was grouping connecting bullet holes.

I had to make no adjustments to my sights out of the box. With some range time, I am confident this S&W1911 will be a fine shooter and a great addition to my collection.

This thing has come around in a hurry. Took it and my Springer out the other weekend and compared to this S&W my Springer is spraying all over the place. Has spent a week at the gunsmiths, and am shooting it today. He says it should be better.

This Smith is right on and consistant. I guess you really do get what you pay for.

Very nice choice, welcome aboard and enjoy that new pistol.

I've always felt S&W made some of the best metal-frame semi-autos to be found; I don't understand why they aren't more popular to the masses.
