Just picked up my first L frame and it is a round butt. I found a nice set of grips but are for a square butt. Will these work with an adapter or anything? Sorry for a dumb question but......

Ordinarily the square butt grips are open in the back to expose the back strap. That's the problem, you'll have a big open gap with a round butt gun. Many grip companies make what they call round butt 'conversion' grips that look like square butt grips -- for those who like the look.

these are closed. Will they work?

I've posted this before, but Don Collins will convert square butt factory stocks to securely and cosmetically fit round-butt frames. Here is my round-butt 586-7 wearing vintage square butt grips. Second photo shows how he inserted a fit piece of wood, and third photo shows how he stained the back so you can't even tell they are conversions.

RJINAZ: Those grips will probably work. Will the seller let you check the fit before you plunk down the bucks?

No, but they are not very much money. I think I will pick them up and try it. Thx all

I was the seller, and they look great on his gun. (he sent me a pic) I put closed front & back square butt grips on a round butt 625, and worked fine. Did you shoot it yet? Bob
