Newbie here, looking to buy a Model 64

Here's my after picture:

That's a nice looking revolver!
This may be a stupid question, but what kind of grips are those? I can't seem to find them in the S&W online catalog.

Thanks

I got mine here: (bottom of page)

Smith and Wesson Double Action

I believe they are both Altamont grips.

So your's is a square butt? Mines a 64-8 and has a round butt.

Edit: Ok, I found them on the Altamont website: http://www.altamontco.com/products/pistol/smith_and_wesson/K-Frame/index.php

They do make a set for the round butt.

Tyrod - are your's rosewood or walnut? I'm guessing walnut? (I find it amazing that a site like that wouldn't have comparison pics of their various woods and finishes... oh well...)

Another Edit: Now I'm guessing rosewood... Just ordered a pair -- thanks for the idea and the pointer to Altamont!

Many times a person can find Altamont grips in configurations not shown on Altamonts's web site. It just takes a large order and Altamont will apparently make anything for anybody, if the economics are right.

Yes mine is a SB and they are Rosewood.

I actually started with a different set, but had to send them back cause they didn't fit very well and had a chip.

Going from DAO to DA/SA is just a simple hammer swap, that'll give you the SA sears and a spur on the hammer back, shouldn't take more then a few minutes to do the job. While you're in there you can drop in a Wolff Spring kit and you should have a great shooting gun.

Here are my two S&W #64's. This is an excellent choice for a revolver, whether it is your first or fifteenth.

If they shoot anything like a M13, 4" that I use to have then they really would be an excellent revolver.
I didn't know they made the 64 with a 3", that's sweet looking.;)
