The M-223 scopes are excellent. Having A bunch of Nikon lenses it's hard to find any fault in the glass that goes into their scopes.

As for the front sight, even at 2x it's barely a ghost at the bottom edge of the sight picture that you really have to concentrate on to see. Once you focus on your target you won't even notice it.

While the front sight shouldn't generally block your view, it does reduce the light coming into the scope, those slightly impeding your sight picture. (Whether or not you notice it or not depends on your eyes.)

If you're concerned about the front sight obstructing your view through the scope, replace the front sight post with a folding front sight gas block. I have one from Yankee-Hill Machine, and them come in a variety of configurations (with/without bayonet lug, and with/without sling swivel). This is the one I have:

YHM-9396

You can get them from Brownell's a little cheaper than ordering direct from YHM.

I also use the same scope (I have one for each of my ARs).
