I see a sale on "Yugo M67" 7.62 x 39 steel case ammo in a crate of 1,000 with Cyrillic writing on it. Is that ammo okay to use, or possibly expired? Also, is it corrosive and/or safe to use in a Chinese/Norinco SKS, especially as to the firing pin or extractor for the steel case ammo?

Thanks

The M67 ammo is usually not steel, is brass. It is most excellent ammo. I was OPFOR NCO in the 82D ABN and supervised the firing off many tens of thousands of rounds of this ammo back in the 80;s. Treat it as corrosive, just clean appropriately meaning water-based cleaner followed by preservative. Brass case ammo is always easier on the weapon than steel, also it is possible that this is steel and even then, runs fine in a SKS.

EDIT: Insure that you order from a reputable supplier, don't be scammed!

I believe that the M67 designation is for a flat base copper jacketed bullet rather than the standard boat tail steel jacketed bullet. The case may not matter. Back when Norinco ammo was being imported they offered the M67 type bullet in their usual coated steel case and I bought a case of 1200. Some think the M67 round is more lethal because the flat base bullet will tumble quicker in soft tissue than the boat tail type bullet.
