Newbie question...

Just purchased a new 15-22. Along with it, a box of Winchester super X 1280fps. Had about two problems going through 100 rounds of this then switched to Aguila brand ammo. About 10 rounds into Aguila, I noticed ejection problems and fail to fire. Checking the Aguila rounds that didn't fire, there is still an indentation on the rim. What does this mean? Ammo or Gun? Talking with the range guy, he said the gun probably wasn't going into battery because it could be dirty? This started happening after only shooting a little over 100rds in a brand new 15-22.

Need some help and sorry if this is a redundant or newbie question! Don't want to have to send the gun away.

I bought a new Ruger MKIV and shooting Aguila it constantly jammed the first three rounds. So I tried using the Aguila in my Ruger MKII that I don't think ever jammed with any ammo I fed it but the Aguila jammed the MKII also.
I only use the Aguila in my revolvers now. People talk bad about Thunderbolts as being junky but they always fired instead of jamming the gun.
I will not buy anymore Aguila 22lr.

It would seem like an ammo problem to me. Also, clean and lube if you didn't do that already. Blaming it on fouling after 110 rounds is nonsensical. The bolt face does foul up some but I have never experienced anything like that. Also make sure you are correctly loading the mag. The rounds should stagger.

Mine will fail to go fully into battery now and then when it's dirty, but not after just 100 rounds. I usually fire 400-600 rounds between cleanings. It really sounds like yours just doesn't like that particular ammo. Mine will shoot Aguila high velocity just fine, but rimfire semi autos are notoriously variable as to what ammo they function well with. It's not as happy firing their standard velocity, though.

CCI is my go to ammo choice. I've never had a problem with their mini mags or standard velocity in either of my 15-22s. Mine also like Remington Golden Bullets which many will describe as junk. I am not a fan of Winchester rimfire ammo. I've had more issues with their various offerings than with any other brand.

The 15-22 is very sensitive to ammo. It requires hot rounds. I use CCI AR with no issues.

Which ammo is better to use in your 15-22 is a never ending topic just like which is Better - Chevy, Dodge or Ford!

I use Winchester Ammo in my 15-22 and it runs great! Initially I had a problem with FTE and had about 9 or 10 stove pipes per magazine but found out that the Ejector was not adjusted correctly, learned that through reading threads here and how to fix it. I had to bend it up a little and now it works just fine. Last time at the range I ran 475 rounds through it and it was wanting more! Not one stove pipe!

I also purchased a McFadden Machine Loader to load the magazines. The magazines are very sensitive on how you load them. The rounds have to be staggered just right. Also makes loading the magazines a breeze. Can load 25 rounds in about 1 minute or less. Really saves the finger tips! Recommend you get one of these.

So far anything I run through my 15-22 runs as it should with no FTF so I'm very happy with it.

Winchester always has a few of those out of every couple of boxes. As for the aguila it sounds like the ammo had some bad spun primers. See if you rotate the bullet 180 if it will go off.

Not the gun, These arent sensitive guns. Mine eats anything that has enough power to run the bolt.

Did you clean the chamber/barrel before shooting your new gun? If not, clean it. Get rid of the stuff that was in their to prevent rusting before it got sold. You run the bolt dry with, at most, a drop of light oil on the bolt rails. 15-22s are not ammo fussy but are fussy about how the mags are loaded. The rds need to be staggered. You can't just hold the follower down and start dropping rds in like you can on single stack magazines.

Hogwash! I have 20k through mine and have yet to find any ammo it won't eat. The same for the 15-22s belonging to my two grandsons. Neither of them are the least bit picky about ammo.
