I believe if you do a search on the subject that this question has come up before.
The 'general' answer is YES it will BUT there have been people that have had to send the frame I believe back to S&W for adjustment before it would work.
It should, but not always will it work.

Thanks for the replies.

I have no doubt that the question has been asked before :) I tried a search on "model 41" and got a list of every thread that had the word model in it..lol...then I tried a search on "41" and it said there were no threads ?? .....so I thought pfft..I'll just ask the question :)

Cheers

Mike

Glad you asked. I'm thinking about doing the same thing. I'm going to roll the dice on a newer one that is drilled and tapped and hopefully it functions fine.

I have a 41 with SN 94XX long bbl. I recently ordered a short heavy bbl. from Midway. I had to do a little light stoning on the new bbl. to get it to fit. Very happy with the way it shoots.

41

I recently tried a 22 short conversion on an A550XXX series gun, i could not close the trigger guard, another friend that I sold a similar 41 conversion to, had no issues using it on his A600000 range gun.
This is only the second time I have had the problem.
S&W told me that barrels needed to be fit to the guns, they were never intended to just swap out. Which is so hard to believe, since 98-99% of barrels I have tried worked just fine.
My other failure to mount believe it or not was a 5 inch Sport barrel.
which would not mount to any early or later framed gun.

Hi S&W aussie I have an older 41 with 7in barrel and recntly, bought a fairly new 5in. No fitting and shots well.

I have 3 different age barrels and all fit on my 1980 frame. They do have different tensions on the trigger locking lever but all work fine.
