I just picked up my newest S&W, a Model 10-7, blue, 2", grooved trigger, pinned barrel and target hammer. According to the 4th Edition almost all of the gun produced in this configuration were sold to police departments. It has no dept markings but does have just enough muzzle wear that I am thinking it went in and out of a holster a fair number of times. It also has a muzzle ding, fortunately on the outside radius and not interfering with the bore. It is clean and tight and shoots well. Serial # 8D980XX. I may kick $90 to get this lettered, see if it does have a department connection somewhere. So now I have two, one 74 years old and one 42 years old. I am a happy camper. Now I can shoot in stereo. If I did it right the photos are attached.

My 10-7 square butt snub was an issued weapon in the mid '70s, and is the only revolver I shot a perfect qual score with. I purchased it from the City when we transitioned to stainless models.
