As a former addict of Fox News. For years I am no longer one. When we moved we didn't and as of yet haven't gone back to cable. I never have been a big T V guy but before we moved to rural aera I did have tv always on fox news . Not one to sit and watch but just had on for noise. I am really glad I don't have it now. I am sure they are still on the latest tragedy. I don't really miss it
 
Hmmmm...about all the news outlets to me are like the NBC coverage of the Olympics, a lot is left out, and a lot is left to be desired.

If Will Rogers were still alive today, and he made the statement, "All I know, is what I read in the paper", then I might have to re-think of how smart he is.

I watch Fox news as I eat my bowl of oatmeal. That's about enough of it, and oatmeal.

FOX News has a decidedly right leaning outlook. CNBC, CNN, and most of the networks lean to the left.

Being as I "lean" to the right, I generally find FOX more palatable to watch.

Where to go for straight, unbiased reporting of just the facts? That's the hard one to answer. Remember in the "old days" when opinion was left to the editorials at the end of a news cast? Those days are gone...

Fully agree. Stopped watching TV 30+ years ago. Can pick up BBC World Service on Shortwave and then tune into Radio Moscow's English language news. Quite entertaining to compare. Also can access Le Monde, Frankfurter. Allegemeine (sp?) Zeitung etc so can find out what is going on from a variety of viewpoints. Dave_n
 
We cut cable TV also, and before that had tired of the news offerings.

PBS on local Over The Air TV, has shown news from Germany, probably because of the BMW manufacturing plant in the upstate. That German network, DW (Deutsche Welle), is now the only world news I watch.

When I travel, I run the DW App on my phone, and stream it to a ChromeCast device I plug into the TV.

I visit OANN and Fox, then use a few MSM online sites and two local online sites.

I spit out the sticks and swallow the hay.

Mom is my 'breaking news' source as she rings me up if anything major happens.

IF that wasn't so true...and so sad, it would be funny. I could have stayed with it but for some reason that is lost on me they seem to feel like I need their opinion on things.

NO SIR!!

Just tell me what happened and let me interpret it the way I want to.

Dan Rather and Katy Couric both had me ready to shoot my tv.
 
I don’t watch Fox much.

I’m more reliant on newspapers than TV. TV coverage is too brief and too slanted to left or right to be reliable.

NY Times and Washington Post, as long you stay clear of the editorial page, have the most in-depth international and national news and provide enough detail to fact check their reporting.

As always caveat emptor, there is always some good stuff in the junk on cutlery Corner that I would get if I were not banned from buying. Point is, Cutlery Corner - without buying a thing - is more informative for me to watch than what the news has become.
 
With the condition my wife is in, the TV has to be on.....
And FOX is the only cable news we watch.
Reruns of "GUNSMOKE" are more entertaining.... :)
Other wise she watches all them dam stations selling whatever! :(
And buying stuff!

I don' watch any news but I do visit their site online. I also frequent Drudge and trupundit.com. Twitter can be a good source depending on who you are following (old farts can do it, I did). Well actually I'm close to being an old fart.

Real question: what qualifies you for "old fartdom?"
 
Any older people here...like me...remember a time when the news people simply reported the news, the facts...and not their own opinions? Just tonight, as I was flicking through the channels, I came across some footage of George Stephanopolus arguing with Dana Loesch. He was rolling his eyes, shaking his head as she was answering questions about the Florida shooting. It was less an interview...and more a debate. Maybe my memory is a little foggy, but I just don't remember stuff like this happening in the good old days.
 
"Those days" never existed. They were just more subtle about their political leanings.

Fox is no where nearly as conservative as some people think. O'Reilly was no where near conservative, nor was Meghan Kelly.

Hannity is, Ingraham is, but Tucker Carlson is somewhere in the middle.

Now that Murdoch's sons are in charge of day to day operations, it's less so.

Shepard Smith, Chris Wallace, and Howard Kurtz aren't even close to conservative.

I watch Fox, but watch Fox Business more. The on air people there seem to be a lot more conservative.

I also get a lot of news from reputable sources on the Internet. You really have to pay close attention to the sources.

Since I‘m retired and have a bit more time, I‘ve developed a little routine.

I don‘t have TV, other than my Amazon Fire where I can watch Prime, Netflix, most PBS, and some other stuff.

So I get online every day and check the Washington Post and New York Tines to see what plays in the left bubble, and then Fox and Breitbart to see what plays in the right bubble.

Then I get on my international pages, British and German, to see what actually matters, because any US news that do, they will report.

Pretty effective system, and quite enlightening.

Then I go to my gun forums and devote my attention to the important stuff :)
