Next revolver should be........

Got the revolver bug BAD! Got that "other" company's GP100
in 4"(great shooter-too big to carry) and got a 642 which I do pocket carry.
So, what's next? I'm thinking I would like to carry it. Other then that "other" company's SP101, what model's are you guys thinkin'? Guess it should be 2" or less? I prefer stainless steel.
The model numbers at S&W are just overwhelming to a novice like me...............357 Mag isn't essential. +P should be good enough.

A good used Model 60 stainless J frame or Model 36 J "Chiefs Special. Another idea might be some of the used K frame .38s.

OK, not typically thought of as a carry piece, but if you really want to SHOOT get a S&W 625 (SS) in 45ACP. It will be the most fun you've had since you learned to ride a bike. Seriously, I went through all the magnum calibers and just never enjoyed shooting them. The 45ACP in a revolver is pure joy. Plus, you're gonna want a Colt .45 Auto and you can share the ammo between the two. I carry a S&W 640, or a SIG P6, or nickel 19 - 2.5", but I rarely shoot them. If you don't own a .45ACP, consider it. H.

Since you have a .357 and a pocket J frame, go with M1Lover's suggestion and get a M625. .45 ACP revolvers are lots of fun.

My first S&W was a 1917, bought back in 1976, and I've owned a bunch of .45 ACP revolvers since. My favorite one sits next to the bed. It is a 4" Mountain Gun, which IMHO, is the ideal fighting revolver.

Know they are not snubbies but how about a 57/657 .41 mag ? Very versatile round that will do most everything a .44 mag will do without the extra recoil and muzzle blast. Ammo is out there but just like the big boomers you'll save bunches reloading.

A 3.5" 27 should be in everyones collection IMO.

Last but not least everyone neds a .22 A 34 Kit Gun is a must have, that fits your size criteria. My 34 snub is a very accurate little bugger and cheap to shoot. The 4" is more user friendly.

I voter for a 22 of some kind. I love my 617 and I never have to worry about how much I am spending on ammo.

How about a 629? you can shoot .44 Specials through it, and you'd have the extra power if you ever need it.

My vote would be for anything from the Performance Center, preferably pre-lock. The triggers on these guns are revolver nirvana!

Hmmm , there's a LNIB Model 60 from the Bangor Punta era at a LGS. They want $475 , but I thinks I can whittle 'em down a bit.

You already have the basic`s covered. Time now to go to one extream or the other. A 22lr or a 44 special or 45. Were it me I would look for a 44 special 4" model 24-3 or a 4" model 25-5 45 colt.
Then either a s&w 34 for a light snub or 4", but if you want to hit something a K-22 6' or a 4" model 17 in .22 lr.

I'm going to go against the stream and suggest another 642 or a 442. It's your carry gun. What happens if it breaks and needs to be left with a gunsmith or sent back to S&W for repairs? Or what happens if you're forced to shoot someone and the gun gets taken into evidence? It's not likely to happen, and I hope it never happens to you, but it is something to think about. Also, having two airweight snubs allows you to spread out the wear-and-tear over two guns.

Get something different than what you have.

A 629, 625, 627/327, in center fire.

A 617 or 63 in rimfire.

The number of models is overwhelming to me. I've written down 5-6 of your suggestions, for further research. I think most of them are "K" frames, right? 1 more in the wheel and, thus, "fatter" for carry, correct? Plus, some shoot +P, and/or .357, with the M625 shooting .45ACP?
