NFL Hall of famer Jim Brown has passed away

I could fill this page with my admiration and respect for him on the field, off the field and in front of the camera.

Godspeed #44.

He was #32 as I recall. But #44 on the Browns was another excellent back.

He was my dad's favorite running back and so became mine as a kid. Loved him in the The Dirty Dozen.

R.I.P. and thanks for the memories.

Took my first trip to Las Vegas in 2000 for the millennium with my wife and two other couples. We went to Hugo's Cellar for dinner at the Four Queens Hotel and Casino.

We were seated at a table next to three men, one of whom all of the guys recognized as Jim Brown. He was wearing one of his signature Kufi caps.
None of our group bothered him, we just make eye contact and nodded.

James Woods commented yesterday that while shooting Any Given Sunday he, Jim Brown, Lawrence Taylor and Dennis Quade would get up at dawn and go play golf before set call.

He said the banter between Brown and Taylor was epically funny. No one could concentrate.

Brown was one of the best athletes EVER! In high school, he played football, basketball, track & field, lacrosse and baseball, and was very good at all of them. He played all but baseball at Syracuse, lettered in them all, and is considered by many as THE best in football and lacrosse. He is in both their College Halls of Fame. He never missed a game in his professional career, and that is hard to believe, considering how punishing he ran.

I saw an interview earlier today with a guy that played against him in the pros. He said he tried to tackle Brown once and the collision actually cracked his helmet and broke the face mask off!!
