Picked up a .38 Safefy Hammerless - Third Model from the 1890's in excellent condition today. Locks up very tight, and also shoots fine:
Note the stamping on the butt under the grips: "2 27", and a diamond. There is also a diamond stamped under the extractor. Maybe a factory reblue in Feb 1927?
Also, there are no stampings on the sides of the barrel - was this how they came from the factory? Or maybe more evidence of a reblue?
