I located a Nickel 586 with a 6" bbl. It's nice, except the cylinder looks cloudy. The barrel & frame are nice & shiny.

What causes the nickel to get cloudy appearing? Will it polish out? Could it just be on the surface, or is it indicative of something going on UNDER the nickel?

It's a nice gun otherwise & I've been lusting over nickel Smiths for some time and have yet to get one. I want a nickel Smith, but this one raises a red flag.

Sometimes it will polish out and some won't. If the price is right you can have the cylinder redone.
