Finally got the bolt and carrier back from CCR Refinishing. They did an amazing job and the system is able to be run Dry , not that I would, and also makes cleaning a breeze. When I got the bolt back I could tell the smoothness and how sleek it was. Can not wait to finally break this in....still waiting on Troy hand guard.

that really looks nice. what does that do for you and how much does something like that run?

Well after doing a lot of research and talking to some people that have this coating on their ARs I saw this as a must. This reason for the nickel boron coating is BC the biggest flaw w the ar platform is when the bolt/carrier get gunky/dirty it seizes up(like how it was a disaster in Nam). This coating gives the bolt a self lubricating coating that makes dirt, carbon, etc very hard to stick to.

I heard from one guy in Afghanistan that said he put 5000rds through his ar, and with this coating , never cleaned the bolt and it fired flawlessly. While I would never test this, I just want my system to Always function under any condition.

CCR was the best place I found for this job. You can search around but this company is family owned and operated and takes the utmost pride in their craftsmenship and customer service.

If you own an AR, this upgrade is a must IMO.

So these guys do a nickel boron coating on your existing M&P 10 bolt? I thought I had read somewhere where the M&P 10 bolt was not a standard AR-10 bolt or is that not the case?

Is their CPII (Cera-Plate II) coating what you had done? It looks fantastic! Love to hear that it functions appropriately before investing, but this sounds pretty sweet

It really doesn't matter what kind it is, they will do just about anything. I am going to be sending them all of my bolts and carriers for every gun I own. May even send my Kimber slide to get done too.lol I also think that if you have them do four jobs within 6 months, the fifth is FREE. Don't quote meon that but would deff ask. Yea, and even before I put a lil gunzilla on the carrier it was slick as snot when I opened the box. The material is almost self lubricating, hence Teflon. Highly recommend this for any gun.

How long did they take?

Anyone know how much a replacement bolt and carrier is from S&W?

Any word on how this fired/worked out for you so far?

Sorry man, not yet. I'm still waiting on a rail so I can use glass and I want the first shots to really be worth it. Lol I will post pics and review when I do, if someone else doesn't do it first.

I'm very anxious to see how this one comes out :) I just got an NiB for my M&P 15 and it looks fantastic. I'd be curious to see if the headspace on this one is still good too

Never took a caliper to mine, but I have cycled 4 different ammo types fine...PMC, Federal, Tula, and Winchester. All cycled fine.

Oh, you did get a chance to make use of the coated bolt? Everything went well?

I bit the bullet, as it were and just sent mine in today. They said est turnaround still right at about 3 weeks!

Bumping to the top. I would really like to hear from people who have had this done.

Just got mine in the mail today even! Took about 5 weeks from drop off at the PO to back in my mailbox. It looks great from what I can tell, going to "try" to make it out to the range tomorrow and see how it does!

I've got nickel boron bolt/carrier in my AR-15 and can truthfully say that it is a great modification to have. However,Doesn't the Nickel Boron coating of the bolt change it's dimensions? I was told that it did, and that the bolts that were to be coated with Nickel Boron were machined slightly smaller to allow for that. Have any of you that have had this done to you M&P10 Bolt had any problems at all? If not, it sounds very interesting. I definitely don't want to have it done only to find out that my bolt no longer fits in my barrel extention.
