Transitional 27-2
I owned a nickel 27-2 without the pinned barrel, but had the recessed cylinder. These were called transitional 27-2's. They just stopped pinning the barrel as if it was going to be a 27-3. With a surpulus of cylinders on the shelf, they used the 27-2. Had to research this same topic about 2 years ago.
