I have a few that I have photos of. I have an M&P nickel from the 1920's and a Model 39-2 that I don't have individual photos of.

.44 Second Model (August, 1923)

Model 27-2 (1977)

Chiefs' Special (Baby Chief, don't have a solo photo) (December, 1953)

Model 27-2 (Florida Highway Patrol)

Model 58 (1977)

"Covey Shot" (includes guns I don't have individual photos of)

I have nothing but blue and stainless in the safe. Nickel is up next on the list.

My first new S&W was a 6 inch nickel M-57 I bought back in the late 70-s. I chose nickel because Skeeter had a nickel 29 and I always liked the pictures of it.

As finances allowed, I added more nickel models to include a 19 in each barrel length, a 4 and 8 1/2 inch 57, a 36, 40, and a 4 and 6 inch 29. At the SWCA meeting in Richmond, I traded our leader here, Lee, a Classic 44 special for a well used nickel 58. I sent the 58 back to Smith to be refinished and it came back as bright as anything I have seen. I believe there are still pictures of it on the forum. My 4 inch 57 was changed from blue to nickel by Smith.

CDNN had a few very special Smiths years ago and I bought 25-14 if I remember correctly. The word was that a very few 45acp's and 44 specials were made for the SHOT show, half in nickel and the other half in blue.

Last October a good friend died and the week before his death. I bought a nickel 39 I had helped him buy 30 years previously.

I only have a few left, as I am getting older and it was time to start the sell off. Most if not all of what is left, have the name of a friend attached who is to receive them. I believe nickel Smiths are among the most attractive of all guns. I am glad I chose to acquire them. I have always enjoyed looking at others at the SWCA shows,

For six decades of S&W ownership I never had a nickel piece. Things changed when I ran in to a screaming good deal on a very nice nickel Mod. 10-5. That one became my first. I was (and still am) collecting the Chiefs Special, so I added a 1969 nickel Chiefs - a beautiful piece that has the box, etc. including the retail sales receipt. I thought I was done with nickel until I started to add Terriers to my want list. I have several of them now as well.
Here are a few pictures of my shiney things......

I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite. They are all in excellent condition and fill slots in my collection.

It started with a 1927 .44 HE 3rd Model (W&K 1926), then a 1950 .38 M&P. Soon after I added a 1978 Model 19-4, a 1980 Model 29-2, and lately a 1980 Model 57. What the heck is going on? LOL!. But they sure are purty!

I have a renickeled 3rd model. Yours is a beaut and makes me envious. Those are hard to find in nice condition.

Great looking guns Bill. I rarely see a 29 or Pre 29 in Nickel. How rare is that 5" barrel Nickel gun?

I love nickels guns and they are slightly ahead of the deep blue look for me in preference. I feel you need to really stay on top of the cleaning of the nickel finish as they show all fingerprints. For every blue I have, I usually have a nickel as well. Here are some pictures of my 27-2 and 29-2 Nickels in different barrel sizes. I m still in search of the 27-2 nickel in 6.5"

I have one nickel plated pistol. A model 36 2" made around 1976. I bought it from the widow of a Deputy who carried it as a back-up. I bobbed the hammer and put Pachmayer rounded grips on it and carried it as a back-up myself. I still carry it sometimes even after retirement, when I'm not carrying my Combat Commander. I'm trying to figure out how to post a photo.

No 28s in your collection? Personally, I'd probably sell the grandkids for a nickel 28-1.....not really, but, you know, I'd be tempted!
I keep a database for the 27-1, 28-1, & 29-1 stamped guns. To date I have 55 27-1 guns, 68 29-1 guns, and a grand total of 1 28-1 gun! May I wish you good luck in your quest? I only hope I live to see the picture of the gun when you find it!

My contribution to the unusual nickel guns! A hen's (false) tooth!

A model 53 that has a rework date, one month after the ship month, on the grip frame which I believe was for the Nickel plating.
