I have a nickel plated SW model 28-2 Highway Patrolman
Can I ask what its worth

The value of a used gun, like a used car, is dependent on condition.
Pictures would help.
Also, there were very few factory nickel Model 28-2 revolvers.
Many have been refinished in nickel over the years, some by the factory and some by other gunsmiths. The value of a refinished gun is usually less than if it had the original finish.

If it were to letter as one of the few 28s that were originally made in nickel, value will be enhanced. S&W had a strict policy for many decades of not offering a change of finish from blue to nickel on the Model 28, although I believe they will now do any finish they offer for a carbon gun on a Model 28. Factory refinish will not generally harm value, although an all original finish in great condition will still be worth more than a factory refinish. A non-factory finish, on the other hand, will detract from value.

The information above is all good except perhaps doesn't emphasize enough how rare original nickeled 28s are. Also no one wanted to go out on a limb and give a price range. There are a variety of silver finishes including the least desirable, bumper chrome, bright nickel, very thin frosted looking chrome as applied by Armoly, etc. Also, how well the 28 was repolished before plating affects value. Presuming its silver finish was not applied by S&W it's likely worth in the $300 to $450 range.

I saw a refinished one in a pawn shop a year ago marked at $650 and its still there.
I might have been interested under $400 OTD as a shooter and under $350 would have bought it on the spot.

The only way to know if it's a factory nickel is to get a factory letter on it that will confirm if it is or isn't a rare factory nickel revolver. If it isn't is worth what ever you are willing to pay or sell it for. The price would be for a shooter grade and probably between $300 and $400 as an original revolver would be worth more to me in blue finish.

Let's remove all doubt here. Since OP says it's a 28-2 it would have to be a brushed nickel finish 4" barrel and have a serial number in the N28400 to N59622 range. All 54 known 28-2s are in that range except one at serial number S287571.
