Have been looking for someone to nickel plate a shooter for me and am looking for quality work. A friend mentioned Gunblue down in Boca Raton FL, gunsmith George Roghaar. Anybody know of his work? Appreciate your comments.

Ford's Custom Gun Refinishing did my cut down Army Special. Google them for the link.

Fords refinishing

I have had 5 S&Ws and 1 Browning H.P. done by Ford's in Fla. and the work is great. Right now I have a Mod. 29 being rebarreled at S&W and when I get it back....................

Off to fords.

I'm not a big fan of bright nickle guns. The finish is soft and easily wears away, and only the outside surfaces are protected from corrosion. The barrel interior and chambers need to be oiled regularly.

Hard chrome is a better choice in my opinion. The surface is harder than the steel it covers so it never wears off--even if you holster it several times a day. The same caveats about the corrosion still hold true. And side by side the nickle looks slightly yellowish and the chrome looks slightly blueish. But without the side by side reference most people cannot tell them apart.

There are several companies that do this type of work. I found this one on the Internet: Metaloy, Industries - Professional Gun Finishing - hard chrome, blue and polymer finish

I've used Reliable ElectroPlating in Chartley, MA for quite a few years.

Quick turn around on the things I've sent in, but mine have always been pre-polished. I don't know what your plans are.
I've never asked them if they do the polishing too but I think they do. They do all sorts of restoration plating jobs.
I've had them do nickel, silver & gold plating for me in the past. All on engraved firearms. No complaints at all.
