Just got a 95% 4 inch Model 19 and the nickel has some very light scratches---what to do? What polishes do you use, Fitz or what? --- and thanx for the info.

I would like to know that also. I hate too see a nickel finish pistol with swirl marks. I would think that the Flitz stuff would be too harsh and make the finish worst.

Flitz is definitely NOT too harsh. That would be the first thing I try. There are other polishes such as Mother's and Simichrome.

When polishing nickel, keep this in mind.
A scratch in nickel can only be removed by removing the nickel around the scratch.
This is similar to "removing" a scratch in wood by sanding down the wood around the scratch until you reach the bottom of the scratch.

In the case of nickel, you're literally abrading off the plating to "remove" the scratch, and this thins the plating.
Polish a little too hard, too long, or too often and you'll polish the plating right off.

EASY DOES IT, and not too often.
