I'm sure you're all familiar with the Nigerian check scam. We were approached via email for a vehicle we placed on Craigslist several years ago and were even sent a "cashiers check" drawn on Bank of America which we promptly took down to the bank and it was verified to be bogus. I emailed him back and told him the check bounced. Never heard from him again.
So I just put my old A/C on Craigslist to try and sell it and maybe get a little ammo money. I get a text within 20 minutes from a guy who is "fine with asking price and will send me a check and then send an agent to pick it up and include $50 just cause I'm such a nice guy" Classic NCS wording.
Just for the heck of it, I asked him if he was from Lagos (capital of Nigeria), or one of the smaller towns. He replied back that he was from Ijebu Igbo, which as it turns out, Is a small town outside Lagos!

Not to side swipe this thread, but 3 days ago, mum (84) called and said she finally became one of the masses.

She took a phone call from an IRS agent saying he had a warrant for her for back taxes and if she gave him a CC#, $1000.00 would make it go away.

She said: "oh my, If cash will do, meet me at the police station at Montgomery & Elm in an hour."

Click.

Yes. I think I really would like your mum. :D

I quick check of my Gmail spambox shows I've received 15 in the last 30 days. I think the sender of the oldest one used a great name... Rose Modupe. What a dupe.

i dont engage with crazies...its the perfect anti-scam shield.....

Engaging with crazies is a fun game and costs nothing to play. Except the monies spent at Jack-in-the-Box, Walmart, the local Stop & Rob, your doctors office, the cell phone service provider, Whataburger, the green kid at an LGS, and the road goes on forever. Bartenders and Craps Dealers still pretty much have their stuff together but still fun to mess with. The game is a lot more intense. :D hardcase60

No interest in twin boys ? (last email from Rose)
You could be a big influence in their lives !!

I'm too old to become a father. Anyway, there are so many good offers from the United Nation, I wonder what the United Nations might have for me. Those FBI guys scare me. What to do?
