Hello all!

I am in need of a little advice. I have developed a cataract issue within the past few months, and driving has actually become painful. Surgery is two months away, and I am getting restless being grounded at night. I am seeing advertisements for nighttime driving glasses that fit over prescription glasses. Clip-ons may actually be preferable.

Has anyone here had any experience with nighttime driving glasses that they would care to share?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I dont need glasses for driving but these LED lights really bother me, I have bought two different kinds of those night driving glasses neither of them worked.

I always like amber/brown.I even have a pair of prescription Rayban brown that are not bad except I can't read road signs with them and they are just a tad dark for night driving.

I may try again with a lighter tint (or maybe a gradient) & different Rx.

Oh yeah... for any Rx B&L glasses, bring $$$.

Glare bothers me at night. My optometrist suggested very low strength reading glasses, +1.00 is the strength I think. They do help. Good for watching tv at a distance, too.

I feel that amber shooting glasses do seem to help at night. I received that advice from my grandfather, who said they helped when working the 11pm-7am shift.

I think Ray-Ban may still offer their aviators/shooters in amber. They also have Ambermatic, which I believe was some sort of lenses that would turn from amber in the lowlight to dark in the sun. I am not sure if they still make Ambermatic though.

I have never found any glasses tha helped my night vision. I used to do a lot of long-distance drivinf and motorcycle riding. The problem with night driving is that it is dark out. Any tint to the lenses just cuts down on the already limited amount of available light. On a bike, I found tha my best vision was looking over the top of the windscreen with the face shield cracked so that I had nothing but air in front of me. It was usually possible to find a space of still air behind the screen.

Amber lenses help to provide contrast in gray or snowy conditions, but they have never helped me in the dark.

My bought one of those as seen on tv, it clips on the visor, she liked it but it didnt do anything for me, I think it was amber.I did have a pair of sun glasses that were blue at the top and got lighter as you came down, they worked good at night, I bought them from readers.com, I lost them went to their web site and couldnt find them so I called and the girl I talked to couldnt find them either, they were bifocals.

Your cateract surgery will solve your night driving problem.

Luckily, you only have a month or two before the surgery.

I doubt colored glasses will do anything except lighten your wallet
