Night sights for the shield

Today I have called Trijicon , XS, Ameriglo, and could not call Truglo ( not accepting customer inquires). Here is what I was told.
XS has a sight but the rear sight does NOT have a tritium insert. Can't see the point of a night sight that only has a front lamp.
Ameriglo is working on a specific sight for the Shield that will be available in 45 to 60 days
Trijicon sights fit but they are analyzing the sight height. The rep told me that with current sight Trijicon does not know what POI is for the current HD137 sights. May have a determination within a "few days" . Project on a fast track.
Truglo --- could not find a number on their websight . Had to submit questions VIA a customer inquiry form.
Next call will be to Heine and then warren.

I emailed truglo a couple of weeks ago they said they were working on one but gave no date to when it would be ready.

The Trijicon fit the dovetail but are too wide for the slide.

I was looking for the same thing for my soon to be Shield in 9mm and I bumped into this youtube video with a gentleman that installed SA37 on his 9mm Shield. But my question is how was the POA/POI going to be with those full size sights on the M&P Shield in 9mm.

I like those SA37 type of night sights from Trijicon.

I had the sa37's installed last week and went to the range on Saturday. I was only shooting at 7 yards but I found poa/poi to be spot on. In measuring the dots (placement and height from slide) they appear to be the same as the stock sights. They look like they were made for the Shield. I saw the HD's on a Shield when visiting ATEi to have a trigger job done and to me the sa37's look like a better fit for the Shield, although the HDs are arguably slightly better for SD.

Thanks for the confirmation Xzhync!! I'm going to get those until S&W announces officially with NS for the Shield exclusively.

I just had big dot XS installed on my shield. The rear sight is shallow v shape sight. If you can see the front night sight you can shoot . If not the sight is not aligned.

XS sight are designed to acquire Target even in the dark very fast.

I thought the same thing. What good is a night sight if the front sight is the only one that illuminates?

What makes the XS sight a lightning fast sight is the design of the rear sight. The shallow v shape sight will block from your vision the front illumination of the sight if it is not aligned.

Sounds crazy but the darn thing works and that front big sight and the rear sight design is more open than a notch and post design which makes for point shooting or front sight only shooting easier than a notch and post. (The notch blocks your view because it is a narrow right angle. The XS rear sight is a shallow v shape like a saddle of a mountain.)

I had a three dot night sight and I practiced in a dark bathroom and three illuminated dots was hard for me to align quickly because I could not see the gun as a reference point, whereas one dot there was no thinking required. If I could see it I was aligned if not I needed to raise the front until the front sight peeked over the rear sight. (Kind of like the sun rising over the Rocky Mountains)

I really like the Trijicon HDs that are on my G17 but how did the full size M&P HDs affect your POA vs. POI with your Shield?

No problem. Good information and can understand the concept. I have had XS sights on my Glocks not my 1st choice.
I purchased a set of Trijicon Sa37 s . From what I have seen and read they will fit the shield. Gunsmiths around here want 50 to install so I bought a sight pusher for 59.00 and will install myself.

You really don't need a rear sight in a hd or shootout. It's just a matter of getingyour front sight on the target, many guys only use q front night site. I have on all my glocks for 20 years. if you want a target gun, then it's a different story, since most glocks are set up for 25 yards the standard rear sight will do the same job as the night sight as far a accuracy, they are all the same "front sight" height and width.
A 17 l or a 34 or 35 are target guns, the rest like 19 and 26, 23, 30 are for protection more than target of hunting of target shooting. Try a trigicon front sight and see. You can always add a rear sight later or some other type, like ghost ring which I have on my 30, just put the lit up dot in the circle and bang
