I currently carry a Model 442 in a Kramer pocket holster with CT grips and the "FBI Load" +P 158gr LSWCHP:

I shoot a lot of 1911 and load a lot of 45ACP and just like the cartridge a lot. I was thinking of the Nightguard 325 in 45ACP.

Is this a realistic pocket carry gun. Is it much bigger than a Ruger SP101 in size and loaded weight? I would guess that the Ruger would be about the limit for pocket carry.

I occasionally carry IWB but really prefer to pocket carry. For me its the most versatile. Any opinions on the 325 Nightguard for pocket carry? Is it strictly a IWB or OWB gun? Thanks.

That would be an "N" frame gun. It would carry well in a cargo pocket, but not in a front or rear pocket of a pair of Levi's.

I carry one pretty much daily, but in a holster. I use holsters from Milt Sparks, Mernickle, and Lobo, depending on circumstances. Pocket carry just won't work, except maybe as noted with a cargo pocket. If you managed to get it in, you would never get it out.

YES YOU CAN! (motivational self-help forum). Fellow member ENH does it. I think his pocket holster is from an outfit called Concealed Carry Solutions (or something similar to that). He had his hammer bobbed (probably a key consideration). I am sure that it won't work with Levi's (heck, I don't like to carry a K frame in the front pocket of my Levis); you'll have to wear Carhartts or some khakis with deep pockets, but you certainly can pull this off. I carry mine in an IWB from FIST, but given a proper holster and bobbed hammer, I'd do it. As far as weight goes, a 325 NG is about 29-30 ozs loaded - far less than an SP101!

If you shoot a lot of 45 ACP in 1911's then the 325 NG would be a good gun for you.

However I feel it is just too big for pocket carry in "normal" pants pockets.

You can carry it in the front pocket of a pair of 5.11 pants, but the bulge is noticeable.

Carrying an "N" frame as a pocket gun is very impractical and damn near impossible. Plus, all "3" series revolvers (Scandium alloy) are post 1980's, thus you are in the wrong category. :)

I think the 325 (N-Frame) is too large for pocket carry.

Here is a pick of a model 24-3 3" barrel, with Ahrend Boot Grips next to a Colt Detective Special (almost the same size as the 442)...

The 325 makes a fine belt gun.

Take care,

If you're an Eleven kinda guy, I suggest one of the little 3" 1911s as a pocket gun. I was able to stick a Colt Defender in my front pocket on occasion when needed (chinos, not jeans).

The 325 (like all .45 ACP revolvers) is certainly nifty, but is probably at its best on a belt.

IWB is the way to go with an 325. great packin gun with a light covering garment.

Carry a reload in a front pocket.
