First want to thank everyone the last few months on suppling me good info on the model 617. I was lucky enough to find a 617-6 brand new in box at a great price after using some gift card Scheels money. Had knee replaced 6 weeks ago so not going to be able to shoot it for a few more weeks , still having a lot of pain.
Question…. If this gun is accurate I want to buy some Nill grips for it. Want some that have the nice cut out I think for your fingers or thump rest on it. Problem is they have so many to choose from and I would like to see them in person. I live in Muscatine Iowa and was wondering if any one would know of some dealers were I could see some grips in person so that I really can find out what I want. I cannot seem to find a dealer page anywhere ?
Thanks. Marty

Very few if any dealers that stock them…..I buy from Germany directly. If you are worried about fit and finish, don’t, they are exquisite. Whether you are getting the right type that is something different, do your best looking at their website.

You will always be able to resell them, I wouldn’t think twice about buying two pair, & planning on dumping one!

Moralem….I like the looks of your grips. I think they call that fine wood work stipple ? I am leaning towards a thumb rest not sure if I should take a chance on the finger grips with the thumb rest too. So just got to try to find out how I think it will feel without actually getting the feel of them. Marty

Here I am to echo what the others have said. Best fit and finish I've seen on a factory grip.

Nill's added attention on the Centennial model takes the back of the grip all the way to the shoulder at the top of the back strap. Makes my J-frame feel like a K-frame in the hand -- superior control where and when you need it.

I've ordered mine from MacTec Enterprises, the sole importer in the U.S.A.

I like standard style target grips on a revolver for target shooting. The finger groove grips may or may not match your hand size. The thumb rest can be a detriment for me because of the variation in thumb pressure you tend to exert on a revolver grip. You move your thumb each shot if you are shooting single action, you grip with your thumb when shooting double action.

Nill grips are definitely beautiful and fit very well. The only thing that I have found that keeps me from owning a bunch is that they seem to be made for large hands. I have rather short fingers and the Nill grips that I have owned and tried have always been too large for me to grip comfortably.

NDAR15MAN, I am curious, is your 617 a 4 or 6 inch bbl revolver? I really like the combat grips that moralem shows on his revolver. Personally I have been a big fan of Hogue wood grips, and I like their combat grips on shorter barrel revolvers and their round butt to square butt conversion grips on longer barreled revolvers. I will show examples of each. I look forward to pictures of what you wind up buying.

There is stipple and there is Rhomlas, mine are Rhomlas which are smoother than stipple.

I like the way the Nill grips fill the area behind the trigger guard.

They are a highly countoured coke bottle style. I only have the closed back strap which increases length of pull. It feels good, but unless you have larger hands, I recommend the open back style.

Pics are Nils next to the big 2x4 grips, football grips, current s&w "target" stocks, and round butt combats.

Yikes, talk about a thread from the dead. I am so old now I had to search the safes to find that gun and remember where I put its paper work. Only took me a couple of days. [emoji1787]
