Hey All.

Haven't posted in a while....but I have a question about the sights on my 5906.

They are VERY dim and I'm pretty sure "done". I believe they are 3 tubed NOVAKS, as they are NOT 3dot painted "combat" or adjustable. (s&w newbie)

Sorry no pics...but I can take'm if needed

Just wondering what my options are in regards to:
1. FINDING replacement sights
2. WHAT KIND of sights?

Trijicon wants some heavy$$$ so I'm fishing for options. The gun isn't a EDC or a HD gun. SO HIGH $$$ sights are not the plan.

Thanks!

You can actually have them "re-tubed" with new tritium viles. For example Trijicon will make sights new again for approx. $18 per dot and all you have to do is mail in the slide. On older LEO guns I always recommend replacing the front tritium and just painting the rear viles (dots) over with some luminescent paint. Puts you back in business fast without a lot of coin.

Where would one find luminescent paint? My LE trade-in 5906's dots are pretty worn out. You just paint the dots with a brush or something?

I have used this product in the past with pretty good results. And yes, it's just paint. I put it on with a tooth pick. Charges with sunlight or a flashlight and glows for a few hours. Not as bright as tritium but good enough (especially if you are also using a flashlight like you should be).

Bright Sights High Visibility Gun Sight Paint

Another similar product.

SiteGlo glow in the Dark Gun Sight Paint

Then there's this product, which is actually stick on film (like a decal I am guessing).

Nitesiters Night Sights for Handguns !!!Better than Tritium!!!

If it's not a HD or EDC,why bother at all? Just dig out the old vials and fill em with white epoxy...or throw on a set of fiber optics which are great for outdoor target shooting...I have night sights on my Kimber TLE and when they go, I will replace them with target sights...which I should have gotten in the first place but I got caught up in the tacticalness of it all...:)

K...where does one FIND target sights? That's basically what I'm aiming for (no pun intended) The gun is purely a target pistol.

I must not be google'n the info right. Cause sofar I haven't had any luck finding any OTHER than fiber optic ver.
