Really excited. I do not have kids in this program, but my daughter's boyfriend is in the school's unit and asked me to help their booster organization and do some parent volunteering (his mom doesn't, she sends food but I think most of it is a language thing since she does not speak English well at all).

I went to meet the Captain today and we talked for a while...and this is going to be FUN. Mostly they need parent bodies and fundraisers.

I'm not slamming athletics by any means...but whey don't more parents see the value in a program like this? They focus a lot on citizenship and volunteer activities. Good group of kids, and I am so happy they asked for my help.

And the Captain and I discussed firearms. Was a good morning.

My son attended The Delaware Military Academy.He graduated 2008.My observations are .1 what a great bunch of kids go thru Rotc programs and Military Academies.2 There is a large amount of disrespect from the general public for our military.The #2 reason is why there is not nearly enough support for these programs.I could go on about this for a while but It would get me banned

I did thre years in JROTC in High School, completing the program in 1979 prior to joining the Navy. That allowed me to join the Navy as an E-3, giving me an 18 month head start on promotions. Within a year I had made E-4, two years later I was an E-5, three years after that, E-6.

This was in Ronald Reagan's "600 Ship Navy", and promotions came fast, they needed Petty Officers to man all those ships. Now, I think there are 288 ships in the U.S. Navy

Partcicpating in and completeing JROTC gave me a such a head start that it made a big difference in the total pay (and pay grades attained) I earned in the 22 years I spent in the Navy.

A very worth while program for any youth contemplating going into any branch of the military...

We also have the only NJROTC in our district. Navy <3 BUT my daughter and the BF both are planning on the Marine Corps.
Captain and I really talked a lot about the misconceptions people have. And I said, Oh, this isn't a mini version of Full Metal Jacket?
