Was over on the S&W website and noticed that they don't have any .45 ACP revolvers listed any more...or have I missed something...

Any PC Models available?

S&W has a long history of rotating less popular models/calibers out of production. If demand for a 45 ACP revolver returns, they may bring it back into production. S&W is a business and they need to make a profit, they make a profit by making what they know will sell quickly and right now that is the self-defense line of firearms.

stansdds....would have to disagree to an extent...

Ruger has been making revolvers in .327 Federal and 9mm and can't make them fast enough...and where is S&W.... Every time Ruger makes a run of .41 Magnums they sell out within a short period of time...and where is S&W? How about 10mm...they had it, dropped it and it wasn't until the success of the GP-100 Match Champion did S&W bring the caliber back... How many customers would like a Model 65 3" for a carry gun...

To me they try and dictate the market rather than giving customers what they want....or they read demand wrong.

I am so happy I got my Apex Tactical Inc. S&W 625-8 .45 ACP 4" when I did! I had always wanted one and it is far more than I ever expected it could be! It is my pride and joy!!! Until you handle such a firearm you cannot really appreciate its quality and functionality. I know I sure did not. One very happy camper here! :)

I don't think the 625 was that popular. I have one but it's kind of a Penguin. It's a bird but it can't fly. Shoots an auto cartridge but it isn't an auto with a magazine.

I don't think it's coming back. Just like I don't think S&W will ever make another 327 Mag or 10 mm. Polymer pistols is where the profit is these days and until that changes don't look for any Penguins unless you're at the zoo.

The gun manufacturers seem to drop models/calibers like hot potatoes as soon as the demand and sales drop off. I was lucky being in the right place at the right time over a decade ago when my LGS marked s&w guns $699 nib. All models and finishes. Some models/ calibers I bought the last one. I figured no one wanted nickel finish. I was new to s&w revolvers.i regret not buying more. Since RedHawks weren't available in 41 mag anymore I'd buy s&w. Of course soon after the RedHawks returned. I feel if you like magnum revolvers how can you not own a 357, 41, & 44 magnum revolvers? There like the three magnumteers?

I thinking the longer barreled magnums have had there hayday. To me it seems the snubnose revolvers are taking over the market for concealed carry. I know a shoulder holster will hide any long barreled revolver with the right shirt or jacket. But market wise it is what it is, everything changes.

That bird has been around since 1917. Never seen a penguin live that. ;)

I have no idea why they pulled the plug on the 45ACP revolvers but I'm sure they will be back after the craziness dies down.

The M610 is still cataloged. It shoots an auto cartridge w/o a magazine too. :p

The bigger question is why don't they make a 10mm automatic pistol??

They can't still be mad from the M1006 episode, can they?

.

I just looked, and only the Mod 25, (but only in 45 Colt) is listed. I have a hard time thinking they discontinued the 625.

LOL, that is just hard to comprehend considering it was like pulling teeth to get S&W to make the occasional 45 COLT revolvers in the past just because they hated putting that four-letter word on their barrels so much.

.

They still have the governor, so they haven't completely given up on 45ACP in a revolver.

In thinking about it...this will be the first time since 1917 that S&W has not had a .45 ACP revolver on their roster...
1917
1917 Commercial
Pre-25
25-2
625 1989
Heritage models
625 PC models
625 JM models
...and now...nothing.
