For the love of god, stop making round butt L and N frames. I hate shooting big guns with midget grips. Not a lot of conversion grip options, either.

So, all handguns being made should be made to suit you only? How about the tens of thousands of shooters with smaller hands? There are plenty of aftermarket grips made to convert any round butted handgun to fit any size of large hand. It is very difficult to take a square butt 'N' frame and make it work for smallish hands. At my prime I was about 6' tall, but with little hands and feet. I never really took to shooting 'N' frames until I 'round butted' one for my own use. Since the factory came out with the factory issue round butt I have added several in different calibers and configurations to my collection. I wouldn't have done that if I would have continued to need to alter the frame to a round butt for each one. .............

And it is WAY easier to put bigger square grips on a round butt gun than it is to try to modify a square butt grip frame to make it smaller - or to make it into a round-butt.

What S&W is doing in this regard just makes business sense. They are making the guns as adaptable to as many people as possible to make their guns appeal to as broad of a market as possible.

That's what it takes to stay in business. Making guns that will only work for about half the people who may want one is a good way to go out of business.

No design is going to accommodate all shooters. My understanding was that Smith went to round butts on larger frames in order to standardize and reduce costs, not because of ergonomic reasons.

Actually, there are very, very few options for conversion grips, and most of them don't really add any girth to the grip. I'm having Mr. Culina make a set for me now because of that problem. Slimmed down square butt grips are easier to find by a long shot that fattened up conversion grips. The Ahrends conversion grips were no better than the Hogue that came with my 686.

I like square butts I can not lie. I put square butts on all my round butts.
No biggie I just purchase square butts that fit my round butts. That's enough talking about the different butts for today.
N Frames and K frames rock.

OK, everyone should drive Toyota, only eat at McDonalds, only shoot win. bullets, vote for one party, come on, Get real. You have to be a politician. Live and do as I want you too... Sorry, you were just joking with your original post, right.

I like the square butt versions better as well and I have smaller hands. In the N frame 44s for some unknown reason the recoil bothers my arthritic hands less with the square butt style. I got rid of a really nice 629 because it hurt my hand even with soft Hogue grips. No such problem with my 29-3 and the same loads. I understand why only one style is made but since this is the wish list there you go.

Herrett's makes them, and they can be customized to your hand size. Badger Custom and Altamont make conversions as well. You should be looking instead if whining. LOL
