No, Not An S&W, but a Mini 14 Question.

I have a stainless steel 195 series Ruger Mini 14 ("Ranch Rifle"). It is my SHTF rifle. I keep it meticulously clean and ready to go.

I hate the flimsy (to put it mildly) open rear sight. I would like to replace it with something that will not cost me more than the rifle itself and IS NOT a scope or a red dot system

Are there any Garand-style rear sights that can be installed? I tried googling and wasn't really pleased at what I saw.

Can anyone point me in the right direction!

I *think* Williams makes a replacement rear sight aperture. That'd be your best bet.

I have a Williams Peep sight on mine-costs about $60 and is wonderful. Was the first thing I did when I bought it years ago. Very low profile-I think it is exactly what you are looking for.
