noisy 629-4

I bought a 629-4 classic (used) off a buddy, Right away I heard a rattling noise when gun was twisted or shook side to side, everything seems to function fine, and my buddy said it made this noise from new, like something was flopping around inside. I have not dissasembled gun(because Im scared to), is this rattling normal in a 629 or do i got problems

Sounds normal. Sounds like you are hearing the hammer block rattling. The block is a loose fitted part that moves up to block the hammer when the trigger is in any position other than fully to the rear. If you get brave enough to pull the side plate it will be the only piece to fall out.

The best accessory you can get for that 629 is the Kuhnhausen S&W Revolver book. Don't even think about popping off that side-plate without having that book on your lap! Brownells sells it, and it is worth it's weight in new S&W parts.
