Well; it is Official. The next Get Together of the S&WCA and other Smith & Wesson Fans/Collectors; is now scheduled for Saturday, August 25th in Vancouver WA. "waelkhntr" aka:Terry will be our "Host" for this event. He has made arrangements for us to use the Firefighters Union Hall in Vancouver WA

We will be starting at 9 am and will run until 3pm or so.

Here are the Facts:

This Facility is not a Gun Range and so I think that any BBQ Guns will need to be unloaded. But, anyone wishing to bring a BBQ Rig is more than Welcome to do so - Just use a little common sense, please!

1. There is parking for about 100 cars or more.

2. Plenty of Tables will be available for our use. Anybody wanting a Table or two needs to bring some sort of Table cover. We will not be requiring that you "tie" up your guns for this Show as it is a Private gathering but please remember "SAFETY FIRST" So, please make sure your display guns are empty.

2a. If you want a Table "Reserved", Please let Terry or myself know so we don't run out. Also, as in the Past we will be setting up our own Tables so you might want to come a bit early to help with set up. Extra Table covers will be available if you don't have your own.

3. There is a Kitchen area available so weren't going to make this another Pot-Luck so bring your favorites and enough for a couple of others so we can all Share.

4. As in the Past, membership in the Association is NOT required for attendance.

5. WE don't care How Far or How Close you are, you're still Welcome. I understand we will have some folks from Oregon up to Play with us who weren't able to make it last Time.

6. At present we have had Folks commit to bringing the Following EATS but remember this is a Pot Luck so bring what you like or just a bit of whatever you can:

K-22 is providing the BBQ Pulled Pork
KKG is bring another batch of BBQ Meatballs
Mortech has said he'll bring a "Potatoe(or Potato) Salad"
BluesBear has committed to "a big batch of Bear's Beans"
xray97 will provide plastic eating utensils, paper plates, and a couple cases of pop.

Now it is up to the rest of you to provide whatever you can to add to the above "MENU". Chips, dips, some KFC or whatever. All of it will be welcome.

7. We are planning to have a "Door Prize Table" if you'd like to bring a little something to put out. The drawing will be held at the end of the Day and we don't have any plans for trying to "Hunt anyone Down" just to give them a Freebie!!!

The physical address is 2807 Fruit Valley Road, Vancouver Wa 98660. The building is approximately 2600 sq ft. The main meeting room is about 20X40, there is a kitchen, office, restrooms, long hall way, an open covered area outside, about 40 parking spots on the pavement with about twice that much on a grassy area. There ar around 60 chairs, 17 tables seven of which are 8 feet long, six that are 6 feet long, and two that are 4 feet long not sure about the remaining two.

Here are a couple shots of the Place:

There are several easy way to get there. These are the directions from Mapquest:

1) From I-5 South take exit 1D Fourth Plain Blvd.
2) Turn right and follow Fourth Plain Blvd. West for 2.2 miles
3) Turn right on Fruit Valley Road follow 2 tenths of a mile
4) You will see the Firefighters Union sign on the right side of the road.

From I-5 North same directions except turn left from the exit onto Fourth Plain Blvd.

Terry has put out a few bucks for us to be able to use this Facility and there will be a donation can located at the Door. And, we all need to plan on leaving the place in a better condition than we found it and maybe we'll get a chance to use this location again!!!

Now for the Legal Stuff. Yes, we will be abiding by ALL Local, State and Federal Laws during this gathering. Nobody is going to be playing "Cops and Robbers" here because I am sure you all know the Rules. We all know that loaded guns don't belong in a Gun Show - As far as I'm concerned your personal carry gun is an exception but remember you are Licensed to Carry Concealed and should NOT be running around with "it" uncovered unless it is unloaded. This Facility is not a Gun Range and so I think that any BBQ Guns will need to be unloaded.

Thanks,

Mike & Terry

et al;

I am writing this from the Lobby of the Vancouver Shilo Inn and have already gotten to take a look inside the Facility and it looks great! Terry has done himself Proud on this one. I have also run into this guy named Dean for Ocean Shores who greeted us in the Lobby of the Shilo. So the MOB has already begun arriving.

Every thing is a go on this end and the weather is also as nice and anyone could expect. An hour in the Pool, a half hour in the Sauna and a Prime Rib Dinner at the Black Angus right next door and we are good to Go!!!

Waiting to see everyone in the morning. I'll be there kicking in the Door about 8am and will start the set-up and Terry will be along shortly since he doesn't get "Off Duty" until 8 in the morning.

Thanks to all who have helped,

Mike, The Bride & Terry

Well; as something of a final Report for this thread I can say that it was a Resounding success. We had an even dozen Tables set up at the beginning and all of them were filled at one point or another. And, there were some very fine pieces of hardware Displayed as well as being Cussed and Discussed by all those present.

Thanks to everyone who tossed a little something on the Door Prize Table including Smithnut by proxie.

A Special thanks go to Mike Priwer for having managed to "Sneak" out while I wasn't looking! He brought up some very nice pieces along with the Tales to Tell about them. He also provided a bit of a History lesson on what "Club Gun" or "Zero Numbered Gun" really are and how they came about.

Terry was a fine Host and even managed to run the Vacuum Cleaner around the Hall before I managed to get all my Goodies packed back up for the Trip back North. I think that everybody who managed to stay around for the Door Prize Drawing all managed to get at least two picks off the Table.

We had 24 folks sign-in and I think there were 38 Door Prize Tickets given out so it made for a very nice turnout. It should be noted that BluesBear and Karen managed to do a fine job of getting their Tickets stuck to the bottom of the can so they were able to go up to the Table together as the Last ones during the "First Go 'Round" - I was impressed!

Smithnut had sent down some very nice Posters and other odds and ends of paperwork. Their was a box of S&W Brand .357 Magnum ammo, a box of "70s vintage" Winchester Super X .357 Magnum Lubaloy 158grainers didn't last too long. But I think the Very nice looking Pair of early Post War "N" frame Magnas was the first thing to go - Imagine That! Terry managed to carry of a Streamlight Stylus penlight and somebody else picked up a four gun rubber covered gun Display rack. A few S&W Prop Rods made it off the Table without any trouble as well.

B'Bear managed to get most everything down including a big mess of Beans to go with Garys' Outstanding Pull Pork and even my BBQed Meatballs seemed to go over right well since "The Bride" said that all that were left were only 6 meatballs a tad of sauce!

There were a couple examples of Patricks' aka:Executioners work on display and I noticed that all the business cards that were with them managed to disappear before the end of the day.

The Bride says she handed out close to a dozen Association Membership applications and I know I signed three or four of them myself. From the sign-in report "The Bride" indicated that about 2/3rds. of the Folks were already Association Members and so we had a fine turnout from the S&WCA.

B'Bear is already talking about doing "Something" I think up in Arlington the end of October so I just might have to get my Roller Skate Key out and tighten up the pair on my "Keds" for that one. I'm going to be leaving that one more up to him.

cflier(Mark C) I "think" is still talking about doing "Something" along about April.

Thanks to all who helped make this thing happen,

Mike & Terry

I would like to thank everyone who attented our Vancouver gettogether August 25th, especially the members that brought fine displays. The lunch was great and there were so many door prizes that most people got more that one item.

Thank You,
Terry
