Last week I underwent surgery on my proboscis (my nose). Seems we had a deviated septum and a lot of node growth in my sinus cavities. Since I went through cancer treatment I had a lot of nose problems. Went to the ENT for my throat issues and he discovered these other problems.
Well last week surgery was completed and so far with great success! ;)
Seems there was more growth in there then expected and the septum has been corrected.
Had a follow up yesterday and everything looks real good. I couldn't blow my nose for the last week and was flushing vigorously with saline solution.
Yesterday he vacuumed out the left over debri and I can now blow my nose.
Even though things are not totally healed I can breath much better which means a lot with only one lung! I now am smelling different things I haven't smelled in a long time, also my taste has changed. The most important thing is that the constant sinus drainage has stopped!
So at this point the surgery was a great success! :D
My recommendation to one and all if you need this surgery don't put it off! Find yourself a good ENT and do it! My particular doctor and I believe this is now the norm does not pack the nose which is painful, everything drains as natural!
My only problem now is the the tip of my nose is very sore because that is where his incision is and this is why.
So for now the sniffer is working 100% and I'm a happy person! ;)

Watchdog,,,Me toooo,,,so far so good! ;)
It's really nice to be able to sleep flat or on my right side again!

Glad it worked for you...but it sounds painful loknload. I've got a crooked nose myself, but the only problem it has caused me is that my sunglasses never fit quite right and the hinges are always breaking from the added strain.

That sounds like quite an ordeal. Good to hear that the surgery has brought you relief and prevented more related issues. I am sure that as the weeks go by you will not have any pain or sensitivity. It will al be a memory of bad made good.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but - Did he tell you the nodes can and sometimes will grow back ??

Have had mine cut out 2 times .. My ENT told me no more operations !!
that I would have to live with them ..

whitwabit,,, he did not tell me that but I will sure ask him about it on my next visit! ;)

How is the septum surgery and do you notice a difference? I have the same problem and have been back and forth on the surgery for years now. I wonder what it's like for both sides to work at once...

NewToGuns, Find yourself a good ENT and make sure they won't pack the nose afterwards. My ENT does not do that anymore everything is left open to drain.
My only pain which was and is minute to the procedure is where he made the incision to go up inside. This was also done as outpatient with minimal anesthesia!
Since this has been done I have already noticed a great difference!
So if you need it go for it! ;)
