So I was thinking that I wanted to replace the guns I carried on duty, and sold when I retired. I found a pair on Gunbroker and won the auctions. Can anyone tell me more about when they were manufactured? Both are new in their original boxes and have all the paperwork cleaning rods, screwdrivers, etc. . .

These are the two S&W Revolvers.

a) caliber -.38 spl
b) bbl length- 1-7/8"
c) grips shape- Round
d) number of shots/cylinder bores - 5
e) type of sights - Integral (F) and fixed (R)
f) serial number- R3107XX
g) Model number- 60

a) caliber -.357 Magnum
b) bbl length- 4"
c) grips shape- Target
d) number of shots/cylinder bores - 6
e) type of sights - Front Red Ramp, Rear Adjustable
f) serial number- 185K1XX
g) Model number- 66-2

What does the dash2 mean??

I have included a couple of pictures if that helps.

mod 60 - 1982
66-2 - 1982

the dash two is the second engineering change to that particular gun. The counterbored cylinder and pinned barrels were eliminated and the length of cylinder was also changed.

Nice pair of revolvers and WELCOME to the Forum
