:eek:Another 15-22 takes a FedEx road trip due to an OOB.

Not to worry, you have a lot of support here on the forum. Many of us have joined the lost extractor club. As you have found out, it is not an exclusive club.

Tell us what brand of ammo you were shooting. I hope it was not Remington Golden Bullets.

winchester 333, 36gr plated hollow points.hope thats not the problem cause i have 3 boxes of them. they shoot well in my s&w22a and my ruger 10/22.

My 15-22 seems to like Winchester 333's and Federal bulk but only have 100 rounds thru it. Hope it's one of the ones to hold together. I'm sure that SW will fix your problem and from what I've read here, they've been sending a couple of mags back with the repaired gun. Good luck.

I was shooting the Federal bulk ammo when mine happened. I was able to get about 100 rounds through it. Waiting on my shipping tags also.

Remember that different guns like different types of ammo, just because the 10/22 and 22a feed them fine doesn't mean the 15-22 will. A 10/22 will feed about ANYTHING, mine spits out remington thunderbolts (they don't feed in any of my other 22's) just fine.

Welcome to the self ejecting etractor M&P15-22 club.

According to FedEx my 15-22 got to S&W yesterday.

In 1967 and 1968, I had a similar looking rifle. It didn't work very well either but I had all the free magazines and ammo I could carry. (That is where I learned not to load to full capacity regardless of what the manufacturer said) I guess free stuff is OK but it doesn't work any better than when you sent it, you were simply bought off.

I'd like my 15-22 to work when it comes back but if it does not, I'll let American Express handle it from there.

Why is that? I would think (and that's gotten me into trouble over the years!) that AMEX would lean on the dealer whom might lean on S&W.

Is there a better option?

I use my Amex for extending the manufacturer's warranty one additional year when purchasing electronics and other gadgetry. They are great for that.

In addition, the first 90 days after purchase is covered by 'incident' Purchase Protection. So if your 15-22 was accidentally run over by a truck or stolen/lost at the gun range or whatever.... they'd send you your purchase price back. I'm not sure Amex would be of much assistance regarding a malufuntioning product under warranty other than to say to send it back for repairs... again. I don't think they have product lemon coverage, do they?

Why do people keep buying these things?

to paraphrase chuck s, you buy this rifle to get ar15 trigger time without the cost associated with the .223 round. if you just want a .22 plinker, get a 10/22.

that's why i bought one. i rarely shoot my .223 ar15 because of the cost. i also love the look and feel of the ar platform. i'm disappointed that there seems to be so many issues with the 15-22 but it's a brand new product. normally i don't buy a new product until it's been on the market for about 2 years but this little black rifle is awesome. so far i've only had good experiences and i'm crossing my fingers that my luck will continue. like someone else on the forum stated in some other thread, we're sort of beta testing the rifle for smith. hopefully our problems lead to a better rifle and don't lead to smith scrapping production.

Why do people keep buying these things?

I bought the 15-22 because it looks cool and has lots of rail space for dangling ornaments. Picture and accessory threads seem to be real popular here so I guess I'm not the only one. Best $439 I have spent for entertainment in a while.

Tacticool.... if you have to ask... it can't be explained. ;)

Smith & Wesson is marketing this rifle in places like SWAT magazine as the solution for police department indoor training in lieu of finding an outdoor range to shoot a standard AR15-type rifle in 5.56mm.

We all buy our toys for different reasons but I buy 99% of my firearms as weapons or trainers. That's why I bought mine. Your mileage may vary. :)

I've not been thru a case of 5.56mm in the past year. I shot 700 rounds thru the M&P 15-22 in the past six weeks.
