Not a Smith guy but couldn't pass these by

Ditto. I couldn't/wouldn't pass up the blue guns either.
Nice acquisition on the nickel heavy barrels BTW.
And welcome to the fold.

g27racing,

I'm going with your transition as underway. Next thing you'll know is you'll have your Colt revolvers on gunbroker while your stable of S&W revolvers multiplies ;-)

Prob not. I just bought a Colt Grizzly today.

I have about 75 Colts and less than 10 Smiths. I like collecting Colts but its hard to pass up a consec set of J-Frames. I am just waiting on prices on these other two consec pairs of 36's. These things aren't cheap but still a lot less than Colting and I think if you get nice guns they will hold their value and/or increase slowly. Nice stuff is also just enjoyable to own and drag out every once is a while.
36's are fairly common but a consec set of nickel still covered with cosmoline was impossible for even me to not try and make a deal.

Updates?????

Not yet. I am waiting on the list of his for sale guns which will include the other consec model 36's I mentioned.

Update: I got a list and I started another thread to enlist some help. The list has 3 more consec pairs of 36's and 2 individual guns.

I am really a Colt guy but I had to have these. Not sure of the age so I am not sure if this is the correct section. I wiped the cosmoline off one gun. Not sure if I am going to wipe the 2nd gun down.

The 36-1 was released in 1967 and indicates a 3" heavy barrel. In 1969 the J serial number prefix was added. Your J4 serial numbers are listed as being shipped in 1976-1977. The span is J37 to J61 so your guns are probably early 1977. Nice to have a pair of 40 year old guns!

I must be the only one wondering what a "not a Smith guy" joined the S&W forum for ? I'm a member of numerous forums, but I'm sure I haven't inadvertently joined any forums for things I'm pointedly not a fan of.
Just sayin'.

For those that wanted an update but didn't see the other thread. I made a deal with this seller to get:

Basically another set exactly like the set I pictured in the first post, except they are Round Butt.

And a pair of consec 36 no dash blued guns with 3" barrel round butt.
All guns are still NIB covered in cosmoline.

He also has a pair of consec 36-1 blued 3" HB SB guns but I didn't buy those.

Great luck finding that sweet pair plus the leads on more. I hope you bought a lottery ticket too. Wow
