I’m not a fussy feller - really - (don’t pay any attention to my wife and kids), but to my way of thinking, a holster should come up most of the way over the metal parts of the gun to protect, and retain – at least more than this one is:

I guess given what I paid for it (especially what I paid for THIS http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/550103904/m/7161080133 one), I won’t complain, but if anyone has an SP101 and has a holster that they’re just madly in love with, PLEASE let me know!

Thanks, folks!

Same as my Hume 715.The onlytime it has ever fallen out was when I forgot to remove it while dropping Trousers for a "poo" break

That holster reminds me of an old song about a Teenie Weenie Bikini with some dots or something. Not enough coverage in my book.

I have a D.M. Bullard Dual Carry Conceal that I use to carry my SP101 in IWB, and like very much. It can also be worn OWB in a pinch. Bullard has quality holster designs for a decent price, plus David is one heck of a nice guy to deal with.

I have the exact same holster and gun but mine goes in a bit deeper...did you try opening up the tension screw a bit? I did when I first got it and it helped...I carry mine almost everday like this and it is very secure and comfortable with no worries of it falling out.

Yea sip, I have dinked around with the tension screw, and with it unscrewed to the point of nearly falling apart, it stll doesn't go in any deeper. I have a feeling the leather just needs to loosen up some. I'm a patient guy, I'll work with it.

Thanks for the replies!

I have a High noon Hidden ally
http://www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Hidden_Ally/hidden_ally.html

but the gun feels secure in it. Yours looks like it does stick out too far.

I just got a new Holster for my Model 36 or my Taurus 85.

Its a belt holster a Bianchi Shadow #7.
Best damn holster I have. It conceals as good if not better than any of the IWB holsters I have.

It is more comfortable that the IWB for the obvious reasons. It is so comfortable you dont even think about how it feels.

I can almost get away with wearing with a not so loose tee shirt....

The clip is also the most positive I have ever seen...no worries ever of the holster coming out with the gun...for the money, it's a great rig...

In looking at their website, it says they only make SP101 holsters for the 2.25" barrel. Ruger has also produced some SP101s with a 2.5" barrel. Could yours be one of those?

Here is my model 60 in the same holster. I think it is a great rig - love the belt-clip and thin leather. I did have to cut the first row stiching a bit(front trigger gard area) to get it to go further in. For the price, I expected to do some adjustment. I'll get my shoe-repair guy to run a stitch when it gets too loose.

Shouldn't matter as it is an open bottom...

2A;

That rig (to my eyes) looks to have been made for a J frame S&W, like the one shown above for the Model 60. The Ruger frame is way too big for it.

I think it would better fit a J frame, they're a little smaller than an SP101, but the bag this holster came it specifically lists the SP101 as one of the guns it's built for!

Well, that's unfortunate. Maybe it's a misprint or error in labeling that should be brought to the makers attention. I've made thousands of rigs for both guns, the J frames and the Sp-101, and the Ruger's are significantly beefier and robust in comparison. Conversely, if you placed a J frame into a rig made for the SP-101, it would be fairly loose fitting. Seems to me, the maker is attempting to make a generic design that works for many different models, an honored marketing strategy to minimize retail stocking dealers reluctance to inventory "one holster, one gun," models.

I don't like to criticize other makers, but for those reasons, I won't craft them. I'd send it back to the manufacturer, with the photo you posted and ask for a replacement. That holster does not fit your weapon properly and looks potentially dangerous. They might well appreciate you bringing it to their attention. Best of luck!

High Noon has great customer service, call them up I bet they'll make it right.

I'm aware of High Noon's great customer service (see this thread: http://smith-wessonforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/550103904/m/7161080133), but too late on the fit - I already took matters into my own hands.

I stuck the holster into a sink of water for a minute or two, oiled down the gun, then into a plastic sack, then worked it into the holster until it fit. Left it there for a day while the leather dried around the gun. Then hung the holster by the clip over a heat vent for another day or two, to make sure it was done drying, before I used it, to make sure I didn't stretch it out.

Voila! Custom fit.

I love that rig! What model are those holsters? I've looked on Andrews's web site, and I don't see them. Also, who made the belt?

Thanks!

Another plug for Andrews, although I don't have pics at the moment. I have a Monarch shoulder rig, 2 different McDaniel II's and an IWB mag carrier. I would LOVE one of his hybrid saddle holsters for my Commander!

Also consider K&D. I seem to be collecting more of their offerings lately. Have a Thunderbird (IWB/OWB convertable) and an Cochise Defender. New belt on order. Holsters just seem to breed in that holster drawer......
