The Colt is a first generation (1921 vintage) .45 Colt wearing fairly rare wood Fleur-de-Lis grips with deep inset medallions (original and lettered to the gun), and the Pre-war .357 Mag is my KCPD Registered Magnum temporarily wearing original Ropers (in place of the original Magna's) for the range tomorrow.

These two "shooters" are quickly becoming my favorite guns - cowboy action loads for the Single Action and 38 Special +P Semi-wad Cutter Hollow Points for the Registered Mag.; nothing too stressful for either gun (or the shooter).

I usually don't find myself admiring aftermarket grips (my favorites are diamond relieved targets) but those both are REALLY nice, they really are.
The guns are way cool too.

Good idea for the Colt, but I really doubt that full power .357 loads would phase the RM. Naturally, I can't say about the shooter...

Please forgive me for resurrecting this thread, but my latest Colt SAA and .357 Magnum combo fits perfectly, a 1902 vintage SAA that was shipped to Denver from the factory (14 years older than Patton's silver plated and engraved Colt SAA but with the same 4 3/4" barrel length), and a 1937 vintage Reg Mag shipped by the factory to a South Carolina PD (2 years younger with nickel finish and with 1/2" more barrel than Patton's blue Reg Mag, but with the same front sight - McGivern)…..

Let's see some more SAA/.357 Magnum combo's; I know RKmesa has some Colt SAA/S&W .357 Magnum combo's that would blow your socks off - of course I doubt if you would ever see them at the range.

Threads like this make me realize how really lacking my collection is. I have neither a registered magnum nor a Colt SAA. If I tried to match yours, the best I could come up with is my 5" pre 27 and my Colt (my only Colt) Woodsman Match Target that I inherited from my dad. Sad - and I'm jealous!

I guess the closest I can come is this Italian copy of the Colt Model P,

And I would pair it with this,

While neither are true replicas of the sidearms carried by GSP, to me they would be more logical choices since both are chambered for the 45 ACP.

Colt Detective and Remington 51 automatics as well. My dad fought with the 3rd Army from D-day to Germany 3 purple hearts. Was in Bugle too. The great generation!! Cimarron makes a Patton Lazor engraved Patton copy and its well made and shoots great!! He also used a Colt 1903 automatic.

As close as I come is this Frontier Six Shooter, at least the grips are ivory. The Highway Patrolman is my unregistered magnum.

Cimmarron makes a Patton Single Action Lazor engraved model. I bought one a few years back and it's a solid shooter and very well made in 45 Colt.
